In Mount Olivet Cemetery, South of the University of Utah stadium, 2 of the original 3 Great Horned Owl babies have been seen with both parents nearby! The third owlet has been confirmed to be at Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah in Ogden, but healthy and planning on a release back to the wild very soon. Pictured here are an older chick with mother, younger chick in adjacent tree, and the father perched a couple of hundred meters away.
If you encounter a baby bird out of the nest, contact a professional before moving the nestling. Bird parents are very protective of their young and will continue to feed offspring out of the nest until independence.
