Hello everyone, this is Steve Brown! He is the new Senior Accountant here at the Office of Orientation & Transition, and is in charge of managing the office and programmatic budgets. We’re glad to have him on the team and he is looking forward to welcoming new students into our amazing community.

Did you know about the EDI Office? The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office is made of leaders, experts, & educators driving efforts to create a safe and welcoming campus climate. The office includes several sub-areas to best serve members of marginalized communities. There are many facets and subsections of the EDI Office, including the Dream Center, American Indian Resource Center, Black Cultural Center, Center for Equity and Student Belonging, and LGBT Resource Center.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody! We are so excited about all of the wonderful things coming this new year. We can’t wait to get this spring term started, get all of our new orientation leaders trained, and be ready to welcome you to our wonderful University of Utah community this fall. We hope you all have a safe, responsible, and wonderful New Year!

Our office will be closed from December 24th to December 31st for winter break to be with our families! Please, if you have any questions, try to hold them until we return. Thank you!

Our campus recognizes the diversity in our students and the multitude of celebrations and holidays our students observe during the winter season, you can learn more about each major religious and non-religious holiday at the union on display until the end of the semester. YOU DID IT! You finished finals! Congratulations! It has been a long long semester but you did it. Now, you can rest and enjoy your much-needed break. We can’t wait to see you next term.

The Center for Student Wellness will be offering free STI testing on September 30th from 11AM-1PM at the Union Ballroom West. If you are unsure about something or just want a free check-up, come and get a test, and be a part of the students helping the safety and wellness of our campus community.

Come out to the Transfer Student Workshop this week on September 22nd at the Union Den and on zoom. We will be providing free food and drink. Learn more about the services in the Academic Advising Center (AAC) related to Transfer Students. AAC Transfer Program Director Terese Pratt will give an overview of opportunities and ways to get involved.
