This week we donated $5,525 dollars to the Utah Black History Museum, raised during the 2021-22 season!!! More than double last year's donation. Thanks to everyone who contributed by buying simple things like stickers and pins and hats and shirts! There are lots of reasons we selected UBHM as our fundraiser recipient. First, we wanted to support Black-founded, Black-led initiatives in Utah, where Black people comprise about 1% of our population. We believe in listening to, learning from, and boosting Black voices. Second, we believe in the power of history to help spark change. UBHM's programming, exhibits, and activities, call all Utahns to celebrate Black achievement, and to rectify injustices perpetrated upon Black bodies, hearts, and minds past and present. Third, we love the UBHM's outreach not just to adults, but especially to children in Utah who will become our next generation of leaders. There are more reasons, but the last one I'll mention here is that the UBHM is just completely badass and we love it.

May it live long and continue to grow, educating and inspiring Utahns to appreciate our Black history, and to seek justice now and in the future.

To all Jazz Fans Against Racism: Thanks for being part of this movement.

Abolishing slavery was one of the biggest accomplishments this country ever achieved. The fact that it had to be abolished at all and the fact that we don't nationally commemorate its abolition says so much, though. Much work to be done yet.

While we're talking about coaches, check out Utah Jazz coach on Kim Kardashian's white board! And !

It's her contact list of allies and advocates who've been working on social justice issues, especially criminal justice reform. Love that! Bigger than basketball.
