Days of Giving

The annual "Turkeys From 911" program, sponsored by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Boone County Search and Rescue (Iowa, USA), gets bigger and better every year.

And that’s because the drive comes from the heart.

“Our community is very important to us, right? Isn’t that why we got into the world of public safety and emergency services?” said Emilie A. S. During this holiday season, the Journal of Emergency Dispatch is highlighting the giving emergency communications extends beyond the phone call or text message. We start with the annual Turkeys from 911 developed by Emilie A.S. McCoy, Lead Dispatcher and Terminal Agency Coordinator, Boone County Sheriff's Office.

We welcome and encourage contributions to the "Days of Giving." Send your stories to [email protected]. Or, if you prefer, send us contact information and we'll write the story for you.
