A very exciting announcement we had to keep secret until today! Last night, at their annual banquet, the American Laryngological Association named Dr. Ingo Titze the 2026 deRoaldes Award Recipient. This is the highest distinction ALA awards, and it is rare to be awarded to a PhD researcher (as opposed to an MD). We are so proud of Dr. Titze and grateful for the contributions he has made to the field and to our institution during his career. 👏 👏👏

We have INCREDIBLE news to share at the end of our FIRST 24 hours of 2026. We have met our dollar-for-dollar staff match, with well over $1200 having been donated to the Summer Vocology Institute scholarship fund! Just our ambitious Challenge Grant remains. We need 70 people to give just $5 or more, by 11:59pm tomorrow night. We KNOW we can do this, but need everyone's help.
Give now and please share the word about this awesome opportunity to support an aspiring vocologist! Your gift is 100% tax deductible! Thank you for sharing what you can to help us win $3000 additional for the fund.

Our Post-Doc Fellow, Dr. Amanda Stark, had the opportunity to share her research on single and double articulation in clarinet playing at BYU for the Clarinet Festival last week.
"We had the chance to walk through our MRI and endoscopy data, using real internal views to make the invisible visible—showing what’s actually happening inside the mouth and vocal tract as articulation changes during performance.
Watching the audience connect technique they feel every day with clear physiological images was a powerful reminder of how science and artistry can sharpen each other when they’re allowed to share the same space."
