Members of the Animal Rights Association will be volunteering at the Wicomico Humane Society today from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The humane society encourages members of its community to volunteer just a small piece of their time and show love to these animals. All have a heart and all deserve to be loved

Happy Thursday peeps! Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful sunny weather. Tonight were having a bonfire and vegan potluck and we cannot wait! What better way to celebrate Spring than with a friendly fire and yummy food surrounded by a bunch of animal loving folks : )

Our weekly meeting was this evening in the philosophy house at 5 pm we had so much fun! Our president, Nicole had a fun night planned for us making vegan sugar scrub🌸🌺🌿

Karen Davis, President of the United Poultry Concerns, 🐣 sat down with the Animal Rights Association to discuss the abuse which is inflicted on chickens and other poultry animals on large scale farming operations. Davis tends a sanctuary for poultry animals that have been saved from slaughterhouses such as Purdue and Tysons. She spoke of the compassion which these sentient creatures deserve and their ability to express love and affection to others. Chickens, like many animals, feel pain and suffer at the hands of oppression. Many poultry animals are forced into poor living conditions with confined spaces, unnatural diets, bright lighting and often abuse.

Davis also founded the Animal Rights Coalition at the University of Maryland and was instrumental in raising public awareness to the mistreatment of animals subjected to the poultry industry. We learned how she challenged CEO Frank Purdue and gathered national attention from the media protesting their business practices. The opposition gained immense support from the university and many like-minded individuals wishing to support the fight against animal cruelty.

So how can we give a voice to the voiceless?❤️Our members left with the tools to express our concerns and put an end to this cruelty. We received pamphlets and advice for communicating effectively to members of our community and gaining their support. The collective voice is a powerful vehicle in the efforts to end animal cruelty and we will continue to let our words echo though the halls of Salisbury University and beyond until they are heard loud and clear!
