PRESENT FOR PROGRESS: School is well underway, and every classroom is building its foundations every day. A missed day can mean missed instruction, classroom discussion, group work, and practice. Help your child stay connected by making school attendance a daily priority.

📖 ⭐ Starting in kindergarten, missing about 18 days, or 10 percent of the school year, can make it harder to learn to read. That equates to missing just a day or two days every few weeks. ⭐ 📚

At Landis Elementary School, students who were in attendance got to make a splash to kick of Attendance Awareness Month by throwing water balloons at their admin! 💦 🎈The fun is a great reminder of why being at school every day matters. You never know what exciting experience might be waiting for you, so don’t miss it!

Graduate of Isenberg Elementary School, North Rowan Middle School, and North Rowan High School, Janiah Hall said, “My education in RSS sparked my interest in medicine & led to my career in health sciences. After graduation, I attended the illustrious North Carolina A&T State University to study Exercise Science, and I am currently working as a pediatric CNA at Salisbury Pediatrics. My teachers in RSS built a foundation of self-confidence & learning how to say the uncomfortable things - no matter how much your voice shakes. Those lessons have enabled me to apply my skills confidently & speak up for my patients’ needs. With these foundational skills, I have been able to go this far in my journey, including my next steps to grad school for my master’s degree in physician assistant studies. My START AT RSS will allow me to
GO ANYWHERE.”

If you've been in a school near the end of the month, then you know what this scene means! 🚒 🔥 ⏰

Knollwood Elementary School was a shining example of how to respond quickly and in an orderly manner during its first monthly fire drill of the school year—these students were fantastic, and the staff procedures were well organized!

Safety drills give students and staff the opportunity to practice the same calm, focused steps they would need to follow during a real emergency. By regularly reviewing procedures, listening closely to directions, and moving safely and efficiently, we help ensure everyone is prepared.

At RSS, the safety and well-being of every student and staff member remain a top priority. We are proud of the teamwork, responsibility, and readiness our Knollwood students and staff demonstrated during this first drill of the year.

Day of Caring made a difference across RSS!🌱💚

Through Rowan County United Way’s Day of Caring, several of our schools were selected to receive some extra community care and support. Volunteers generously gave their time and talents to help with landscaping cleanup and beautification projects around our campuses. A special shout-out goes to East Rowan High School students who stepped in to cover a landscaping project for the front exterior of Rockwell Elementary School!

This week, our first-year teachers gathered for a sweet celebration of their first days in the classroom! They spent time collaborating, swapping ideas, laughing about the realities of teaching, encouraging one another, and enjoying a special treat.
