Congratulations goes out to Peter Gerardo, one of our PRESTO students.

Earlier this winter, Peter Gerardo, an adult student of Cheryl Florin, won The Golden Key Piano Composition Competition in the Professional Category with his piece, Mediterranea. Peter has been composing for two years in Ms. Cheryl's music theory class at Salisbury University in the PRESTO outreach program. The purpose of the piano composition is to encourage creativity and self-expression in new and upcoming composers and to provide an opportunity for winning compositions to reach an international audience at the World Composers’ Recital, which is held as part of the annual Golden Key Music Festival of Vienna.

Peter's composition Mediterranea, will be performed at the World Composers Recital in the historic Grosse Ehrbar Hall in Vienna, Austria. The concert will be followed by an awards ceremony. As a competition winner, Peter is also entitled to participate in the Golden Key Musical Festival, which takes place this year from July 28 to August 4. Peter and his wife Linda will both be going to Austria to hear the premier of Peter's piece and to participate!
