The new school year is starting soon and we want to take the time to wish 2 Parkside alumni (a former wrestler and a current wrestling coach) good luck in their college athletic careers.

Rocco Tully (PHS class of 2025) will be entering his freshman season wrestling at McDaniel College this winter since taking a year off after graduating in 2025. Rocco was a force for the Rams over his 4 year career and an MPSSAA state place winner (4th place) in 2023. He finished his high school wrestling career with 134 wins and looks to compete at 157lbs for the Green Terror.

Kaitlin Cashman (PHS class of 2021) is the current head girls wrestling coach at Parkside. She is entering her senior year at Salisbury University and will be joining the nationally ranked SU field hockey team as a goalie, helping them to build on their legacy of success over the years. Kaitlin was an All-State goalie during her playing career at Parkside and helped lead the team to the MPSSAA state semifinals in 2019. Since graduating from PHS she stepped away from field hockey for a while to serve 6 years in the U.S. Army, in addition to taking over the Parkside girls wrestling program last season. But she’s coming out of retirement to give it one last shot.

New singlets for the upcoming season! 🔥

The Parkside Wrestling website is up and running!
What I did was use the new Parkside Rams Sports site and created tabs in the Wrestling section.
These new tabs include TEAM INFO, HISTORY, STATE CHAMPIONS, TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS, 100 CAREER WINS, THE PAT BRISCOE TOURNAMENT, and FUNDRAISERS.
Please visit www.parksideramssports.com, click on the wrestling tab (on the left menu), then you’ll see all of the additional wrestling program-specific tabs at the top.
This is an ongoing process so be patient. It’s not 100% complete and will always be updated.
Please share this information so that I can get feedback from Parkside wrestling alumni. I’m sure I missed something and changes can be always be made. If you see any mistakes, omissions, etc please let me know. I also need help with the timeline of head coaches (names and specific years served).

I am currently in the process of building a Parkside Wrestling website. Hopefully it will be up and running by late summer/early fall, but there will always be details to add.
Parkside Wrestling has had a great history over the past 50 years which needs to be made public.
I need some help from alumni…Specifically, I’m looking for a timeline of head coaches. Names of each head coach and the exact years they served in that capacity. Pat Briscoe started everything back in the ‘75-‘76 season but I don’t know what his last year was. And then who came after him, etc. Records would be helpful too but I know that might be tough to get.

It’s official!
The MPSSAA state wrestling tournament is coming to the Wicomico Civic Center in March.

EXCITING NEWS!

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) will host the Maryland State High School Wrestling Championships at the Wicomico Civic Center beginning next year.

The two-day event is slated for March 5-6, 2027, and will bring nearly 800 Maryland public school student athletes to Salisbury.

Congratulations to former Parkside wrestlers Masen Shahan and Colby Jones who are recipients of this year’s Jake Schertz Academic Wrestling Scholarship.
This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Jake Schertz, a former WiHi wrestler who tragically passed away from a bike accident in Pittsville in June 2016. It is awarded each year to deserving local wrestlers who meet the established criteria.

Masen Shahan (Parkside class of 2026) was a Bayside Champion, Regional Champion and state qualifier. He will be attending Salisbury University in the fall to study Accounting.

Colby Jones (Parkside class of 2025) was a state qualifier and member of the 100 career wins club. He recently finished his freshman year at Shenandoah University. He will continue his academic and wrestling career in his upcoming sophomore year at Shenandoah and study Criminal Justice.

Congratulations to Parkside’s Dontray Fuller who became the recipient of the inaugural Jacob Mullen Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship has been established in memory of Jacob Mullen, a hard working and dedicated Parkside football player and wrestler who passed away from injuries sustained in a U. S. Army training exercise in 2025.

Pictured (l to r) is Parkside head wrestling coach Burt Cashman, Linda Mullen (Jacob’s mom), Dontray Fuller, and Parkside head football coach Brendan Riley.

Dontray was the perfect selection this year as he was also a football player and wrestler who exhibited many of the qualities that Jacob demonstrated when he was a Ram. The football and wrestling programs are honored to be recognizing one recipient each year which will keep Jacob’s legacy alive.
