North Hills Christian School serves the greater Rowan County area to provide Christian education, in person, five days per week. NHCS is fully accredited by Cognia, formerly the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), an internationally respected organization that is recognized by the North Carolina Division of Non-Public

Education. Maria Lowder serves as Executive Director, Kristen Sabia serves as the Lower School (JK - 5th grade) Principal, and Matthew Weaver serves as the Upper School (6th - 12th grades) Principal. On average, students score approximately 2.5 years above grade level on nationally-normed standardized tests. NHCS offers tiered instruction for Lower School, honors classes for middle and high school students, dual enrollment for juniors and seniors, Latin in grades 2-8, formal logic for high school students, a dedicated staff for special needs students, and competitive athletics. The Awards by the Salisbury Post are back, and we’re thrilled to share that North Hills Christian School has once again been nominated!

We are incredibly blessed to be on the ballot for the third year in a row, and after bringing home the GOLD the past two years, we’re ready to go for the 3-PEAT!

60 YEARS. GENERATIONS OF IMPACT. 🦅

There’s something especially meaningful about beginning a new school year with a theme chosen by the students who are leading the way. Each year, our rising seniors select the theme that will shape our school year, and for 2026–2027, they chose:

CHOSEN & SET APART
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
— 1 Peter 2:9

This year, that message carries an even deeper meaning as North Hills Christian School celebrates 60 years. For six decades, NHCS has been set apart and called to something greater than simply educating students. For 60 years, we have been equipping the hearts and minds of students to impact the world for Christ.

From our youngest Eagles to our seniors, our first chapels of the year have already reminded us that being chosen isn't about our own importance, but about being called by God for a purpose. Being set apart means living differently, loving boldly, serving faithfully, and standing firmly on the truth of God’s Word. As we celebrated together this week in chapel, we were reminded that this isn't simply a theme for a school year. It’s a calling.

🦅 SCHOOL SPIRIT: ACTIVATED! 🏐⚽

Yesterday, our Helen Kelley Smith Gymnasium was filled with Eagle Pride as our entire school came together for our first Pep Rally of the year!

We celebrated our Lady Eagle Volleyball teams 🏐 and Boys Soccer teams ⚽ as they prepare to represent NHCS on the court and field this season!

And, of course, no NHCS Pep Rally would be complete without one of our favorite traditions: the Staff vs. Student Volleyball Match! 🙌

It was an AMAZING game, full of big plays, big laughs, and even bigger school spirit. In the end, the staff took the win 🏆, but the real victory was getting to see our entire school community cheering, celebrating, and having fun together!

What a way to kick off the season! We are BACK TO MAKE AN IMPACT and ready to cheer on our Eagles! 🦅💙

📖 A WORLDVIEW THAT SHAPES EXCELLENCE

At NHCS, our biblical worldview is the foundation that drives our academic excellence. When students are grounded in truth, they are equipped to think critically, pursue knowledge, and use what they learn with wisdom and purpose.

That’s why our newest high school students are beginning Biblical Worldview Immersion, a six-week course led by our Spiritual Life Director, Mr. Ray Carter.

Throughout the course, students will explore:

✦ How the Bible is organized and the overarching story of Scripture
✦ The person and work of Jesus Christ
✦ Core Christian beliefs
✦ What it means to have a biblical worldview
✦ How faith shapes the way we understand and engage with the world around us

More than simply learning how North Hills operates, we want our students to understand why we do what we do.

📚 Our Teachers & Staff Are Back—and READY for Orientation! 🦅

The halls are coming back to life as our teachers and staff prepare for the start of a new school year!

We were also blessed to spend time learning from Dr. Jenkins, ACSI GRAACE Initiative Director. GRAACE stands for Gender, Race, Ability, Academic, Culture, and Economic Status—providing a framework for understanding and engaging the unique experiences and perspectives our students bring to the classroom.

We are grateful for opportunities like this to continue growing as educators and to better equip our teachers to equip the hearts and minds of students to impact the world for Christ.
