For the eighth time, 11 Tibetan monks from the famed Drepung Loseling Institute, with blessings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, are in residence at SU. The monks begin by consecrating the site of the mandala sand painting with approximately 30 minutes of chants, music and mantra recitation during the opening ceremony noon Monday, March 11, in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall. Immediately following the opening ceremony, the monks start drawing the line design for the mandala. This is very exacting work that takes about three hours to complete. Construction begins immediately following drawing of the lines. Sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs and University Dining Services.
This event is free and open to the public!

On February 15th at 5:30PM, Maryland artist Caitlin Gill will be on campus to give an Artist Talk!
"Gill is a mixed-media artist living in Baltimore. She has a BA in drawing and painting from Towson University and an M.F.A. in curatorial practice and art criticism from the Ontario College of Art and Design. Gill uses printmaking, sculpting, drawing, painting, collage and fiber to create artwork that explores ideas of identity, femininity and domesticity."
We hope to see you there!
