Dear Choices Academy Families, Students, and Staff,

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Choices Academy. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve in a school that provides students with the support, flexibility, and opportunities they need to achieve success.

As I begin this journey with you, I would like to share my educational philosophy. I firmly believe that meaningful relationships are the foundation of a successful school. When students feel respected, valued, and supported, they are more likely to engage in learning, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals. Building strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff will be a priority in all that I do.

Choices Academy serves students who come to us with a variety of experiences, strengths, challenges, and aspirations. We have the unique opportunity to meet students where they are and provide individualized support that helps them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe every student deserves a fresh start, a caring support system, and access to opportunities that help them envision and achieve a successful future.

At Choices Academy, I am committed to creating an environment where students are treated with dignity, supported in their individual journeys, and encouraged to recognize their strengths and potential. Every student who walks through our doors brings a unique story, and it is our responsibility to provide the support, guidance, and opportunities needed to help them move forward successfully.

As I begin my time as Principal, I look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside students, families, and staff. Together, we will remain focused on what matters most: helping students grow, build confidence, develop resilience, and prepare for their next steps in education, employment, and life. I am honored to serve at Choices Academy and excited about the opportunities ahead.

Thank you for welcoming me to this role. I look forward to meeting each of you and working together to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Warm regards,

Dr. C. Dwayne Abt
Principal

Starting with the first bell on the first day of the 2026-2027 school year, students in Wicomico County Public Schools may not use personal electronic devices during the school day. This new “Bell to Bell, No Cell” rule supports a safe and effective learning environment, and meets the requirements of a new state law that will prohibit student cell phone use during school hours.
