Julia gets it. The gig is up. This is home based individual learning topics. Keep it there.
Think of us as a supplement to the information coming from the district.

Would Saline to be famous next? We are doing the exact same thing.

This kind of inclusion is easy. A biological girl who competes against girls on a girls team and wants to wear a boys’ swimsuit.
Although it’s unclear why this is a big story in the news about inclusion, it’s nice for Saline to get attention for something kind. This is not what the transgender athlete battle is about, so it’s not a case in point for males in the girls locker rooms and fields.
Swimming toward change: Michigan transgender athlete fights for inclusion Saline senior Alex Lillie, a transgender boy and captain of the girls swim team, found support from family, coaches and teammates. Now, he’s advocating for more inclusion in sports and beyond.

Important Information about 5th Grade Camp
Dear 5th Grade Families,
I am writing with an important update about our 5th-grade camp program.
Last year, we hosted our 5th-grade camp at a new-to-us facility at Camp Michindoh. While we were aware the facility’s mission is rooted in religious teaching, it also hosts many public organizations and schools unaffiliated with any faith tradition. Last fall, we were particularly drawn to the outdoor education program, which offered learning experiences aligned with educational standards and were entirely secular in nature. Our leadership team engaged in intentional conversations with camp directors to ensure our students received a camp experience appropriate for public school students. Our spring camps were successful and supportive of our 5th graders, chaperones, and staff.
This year, statements of Michindoh’s values and policy have come to light that do not align with Saline Area Schools’ commitment to providing experiences that are safe, inclusive, and supportive of all students.
As a result of these findings, we will not be continuing our partnership with Camp Michindoh. The Camp Information Night scheduled for October 23rd has been canceled. We are committed to providing a meaningful field trip experience to our fifth-grade students as a replacement. We will share information about alternative opportunities as soon as we are able. Any fundraising efforts already completed will be carried forward to future events.
We sincerely appreciate those who reached out directly to bring these concerns to our attention, while providing us the space to reflect thoughtfully on next steps.
In partnership,
Megan DeGrand, Heritage Principal
Dr. Rachel Kowalski, Saline Area Schools Superintendent

Would you look at that
Skyline high school has been playing an ineligible male player on their girls volleyball team.
They did this without a waiver from MHSAA and without informing other team parents about the safety risks to their daughters.
Those games need to be forfeit and an investigation done into how this happened and who ignored the safeguards that protect womens’ sports.
