This past weekend, NSHS Advanced Art students Maritza, Angel, Christian, Gustavo, and Jonah put their creativity to work at MCOE’s Teacher Extravaganza! After prepping their designs and supplies, they spent the day face painting and sharing their talents with the community.

What an incredible welcome back at La Paz Middle School!

The turnout was tremendous, and the energy across campus reflected what makes the La Paz community so special. Families had the opportunity to step inside classrooms, connect with educators, and get a closer look at the learning, support, and care that happens each day for our students.

The evening was also an opportunity to celebrate our La Paz team members and recognize the continued work they do to create a welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment for students.

And yes—we even had a few furry friends join in on the fun, making the evening that much more memorable!

A strong school community is built through these connections between students, families, educators, and our community—and La Paz showed that spirit in a big way.

What a turnout at El Puente School!

More than 160 attendees joined us for Back-to-School Night, creating an evening full of energy, connection, and community.

Families had the opportunity to meet with teachers, learn more about the year ahead, and connect with 11 community resource partners offering valuable services and support.

A special thank you to the incredible El Puente School team whose support and teamwork helped make the evening such a success.

We’re excited to continue highlighting the great work happening at El Puente and the partnerships that help our students and families thrive.

What a great night at Mount Toro High School!

Families filled the campus for Back-to-School Night, connecting with teachers, visiting classrooms, and getting a closer look at the year ahead.

The evening also included a community fair, giving families the chance to meet local agencies and community partners, learn about available services and resources, explore career opportunities, and make connections that can support students beyond the classroom.

We loved seeing so many families, educators, and community partners together in one place, sharing information, building relationships, and starting the year with such positive energy.

Meet the student voice at the Board table.

North Salinas High School senior Arjun Gakhal has officially begun his term as SUHSD Student Trustee, representing students from across our District and helping ensure their perspectives are part of the conversations and decisions that shape their schools.

Learn more about Arjun, what inspired him to serve, and what he hopes to accomplish this year.

North Salinas High School senior Arjun Gakhal was sworn in as SUHSD’s Student Trustee during the August 11 Board meeting. He will serve throughout the 2026–27 school year, representing student perspectives and helping ensure student voice remains part of District decision-making.

Future firefighters in training!

Today, we stepped into one of our ROP classes where students were getting a real look at what it takes to pursue a career in the fire service — including the physical strength, endurance, and discipline the job demands.

Through hands-on training, professional guidance, and access to real-world resources, students are not just learning about a career — they are preparing for it.

Experiences like these give our students the opportunity to discover their strengths, challenge themselves, and see what is possible beyond the classroom.

From student achievement to graduation, college and career readiness, and more, our schools continue to move forward because of the work happening every day in classrooms and across our campuses.

We’re excited to welcome SUHSD families to our campuses for our 2026 Back-to-School Nights. These evenings are a great opportunity to meet teachers, visit classrooms, learn more about the school year ahead, and strengthen the connection between home and school.
