Our eighth graders and their first-grade buddies spent some special time together with a fun collaborative activity! Students worked side by side to compare and contrast their likes, discovering what they have in common and learning a little more about one another along the way. 🥰

We love seeing these special friendships grow across grade levels! 💙✨

Third Grade Helpers in Action!

A special shoutout to two of our amazing third graders, Matthew and Benjamin, who graciously volunteered their recess time to help create the new Classroom Rewards Poster!

Their kindness, creativity, and willingness to lend a helping hand are wonderful examples of what it means to be a great classmate.

🔬 Science in action! Our 7th graders have been busy thinking like real scientists! Students first practiced writing hypotheses based on different examples and scenarios. 🧠📝

The next day, they put on their scientist hats for a hands-on mini lab! 🧪 Students learned the ins and outs of compound light microscopes and observed onion specimens up close. 🧅🔍 We love seeing our students explore, question, and discover! 💙❤️

📚✨ A Fun Visit to the Library! ✨📚

Both of our preschool classes had a wonderful visit to the library today! Mrs. Rains greeted our little learners with a warm smile and so much joy. ❤️

The students enjoyed a special read-aloud, a story, and a song together. What a fun way to encourage a love of books and reading! 📖🎶

🔥❤️ A Little Gratitude for Our Local Heroes! ❤️🔥

Our 4th grade students took time to write heartfelt thank-you cards for the brave firefighters working tirelessly on the Timber Fire. 🚒

We are incredibly grateful for their courage, dedication, and hard work protecting our communities. We hope these special messages bring a little encouragement and remind our firefighters just how much they are appreciated! 🙏❤️

🧠🫧 Growing Their Bubble Gum Brains! 🫧🧠

Sacred Heart third graders practiced working collaboratively while learning about the different roles within a group! Students worked together, listened to one another’s ideas, and practiced being responsible members of their teams. 💙

They also continued learning about growth mindset! Students listened to a story and worked with their groups to create a list of phrases that represented:

🫧 Bubble Gum Brain (Growth Mindset) — flexible thinking, perseverance, and believing they could grow and learn.
✨ “I can try a different way!”
✨ “Mistakes help me learn!”
✨ “I can’t do it yet!”

🧱 Brick Brain (Fixed Mindset) — believing abilities cannot change or giving up when something feels difficult.
✨ “I can’t do this.”
✨ “I give up.”
✨ “I’m just not good at this.”

Students worked hard to build a classroom where they understood that challenges helped their brains grow and that learning often took practice, patience, and teamwork. It was wonderful to see our third graders encouraging one another and putting their collaboration skills into action! 💙🧠✨

TK’s First Big Playground Adventure! 🌟

After a busy week of learning, practicing routines, and getting to know our new classroom, our TK friends finally got to experience one of the best parts of school—the BIG playground! 🛝☀️

There were lots of smiles, laughter, running, climbing, and exploring as our little learners enjoyed some well-deserved playtime together. It was the perfect way to end a wonderful first week! We are so proud of how much our TK friends have learned and grown already. 💛

Today, 5th graders put their mental math skills to the test! Students took turns giving each other 1-digit × 2- or 3-digit multiplication problems, then used the distributive property to break the problem apart and solve it in their heads.

It was a fun way to practice multiplication, mental math, and explaining our mathematical thinking! 🎯📚
