Aviation maintenance management students gained real-world experience as they assisted in dismantling, transporting and reconstructing a 1950 Piper PA-20 Pacer aircraft for the "Red Hot Rides" exhibit at the Garage Automotive Museum.

We are proud to share our expertise in uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) through an exciting new Kansas-based collaboration: Purple UAS.

In partnership with the Kansas Crewed and Uncrewed Systems Association, or KCUASA, and FirePoint Innovations Center, K-State Salina is helping launch the Purple UAS Certification Portal, a new certification pathway designed specifically for drones used in public safety missions.

The Purple UAS program provides manufacturers with an independent, transparent certification process focused on supporting law enforcement, fire and rescue, emergency medical services, search and rescue, emergency management, disaster response, and critical infrastructure operations.

With research experience from our Applied Aviation Research Lab, particularly in public safety and disaster response operations, is proud to contribute to a program that helps advance trusted drone technologies for those who serve and protect our communities.
