Colorado College students raising the flag & recording belt weather kit observations this morning at Firecamp. Today's snowstorm will take the edge off a little, but Colorado still faces a daunting 2026 fire season. Thanks to instructors Nick Ophaug & Jeff Noland for taking 27 students from the classroom to the field (along with 5 goats & Gumby, our new puppy.)
Flag flown at half staff for National Fallen Firefighters Memorial weekend.

Firecamp forestry staff & our AmeriCorps NCCC Axolotl 3 team (pictured) helped burn 500+ slash piles in Lake County last December. In the latest round of COSWAP funding just announced from DNR, we'll be able to train an additional 4 NCCC teams and get 25 weeks of Southwest Conservation Corps chainsaw & pile crew time over the next 2 years!!!

We truly enjoyed hosting the Raven team leaders for a "mini-spike" of service learning on Firecamp Community Forestry projects throughout Chaffee County. Salida Fire Department Chaffee County Fire Protection District Southwest Conservation Corps
