Although my photo collection is limited, last night's ceremony was nothing short of monumental. The induction of four new dedicated SKPS School Board members was a privilege, especially being sworn in alongside Karina Guzmán Ortiz, Mel Fuller for School Board, and Jennifer Parker. We are set to tackle our responsibilities head-on, and given the prevailing circumstances, we have significant work to accomplish. Karina Guzmán Ortiz Mel Fuller for School Board

PCUN has endorsed Lisa Harnisch for the Salem Keizer School Board Race in Zone 1.

Lisa has lived in Salem for 30 years and raised two kids in the Salem Keizer public school system. Lisa has served on the Budget committee, Co-chair for the facilities task force, and Co-chair for the committee directing the successful school bond which provided funding to enhance all of our school buildings.

Big news! Lisa Harnisch was elected to continue serving Zone 1 on the Salem-Keizer School Board.

Lisa was appointed to this seat in 2024. She is the Executive Director of the Marion & Polk Early Learning Hub, the President of the Salem Art Association, and is the mother of two SKPS grads. Prior to being appointed to the board, Lisa served on the district's Budget Committee, was the Chair of Awesome 3000 for 12 years, and spent 15 years on the Salem-Keizer Education Foundation board.

Lisa led the School Bond campaign expanding CTE in all schools from start to finish: serving on the district's Facilities Committee to determine the district's needs, leading campaign to make sure the bond passed, and serving the Bond oversight committee to ensure implementation.

Clearly, Lisa is more than qualified for this role and we're so excited to see what she can accomplish with a full term on the board!
