It was shaping up to be a perfectly ordinary morning for Bolt... until he heard a faint "Squeak... squeak..." coming from a nearby tree.

Bolt knelt down. "Whoa, little buddy... what happened to you?"

Civic engagement is BERRY, BERRY important!

Yesterday, Chemeketa President Jessica Howard joined Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read at the Marion Berries Baseball Club game to make their pitch for civic engagement, starting with one simple reminder: register to vote and make your voice heard!

Secretary Read took that message to the mound, throwing out the first pitch, while Barry the Marion Berries mascot helped encourage fans to step up to the plate and get involved in their communities.

Because democracy works best when everyone gets in the game!

Register. Vote. Participate. Stay engaged. And don’t forget, your voice is always worth making a little noise about.

Yesterday was an exciting day at Chemeketa Community College Yamhill Valley Campus as we officially cut the ribbon on new spaces designed to prepare students for high-demand careers and strengthen the communities we serve!

Our new state-of-the-art science and health care professions lab will give students hands-on learning opportunities as they prepare for careers in science and health care. We also celebrated the opening of new Early Childhood Education classrooms, where future educators will gain the skills and experience they need to help our youngest learners thrive.

And none of this would have been possible without YOU.

These new learning spaces are among the projects made possible through our community’s support of Chemeketa’s bond measure. Your investment in Chemeketa is an investment in students, our workforce, and the future of our region, and we are incredibly grateful for your trust and support.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for yesterday’s ribbon cutting, and especially to the voters and community members who helped turn these plans into reality.

The ribbon has been cut. The doors are open. Now it’s time for students to make these spaces their own!

In this episode of Chatting with Chemeketa, President Jessica Howard and co-host Les Wielgos get twice the conversation from one guest as Paul Davis, Dean of Chemeketa’s Yamhill Valley Campus and Eola, sticks around for both halves of the show. First, Paul shares the latest news, events, and opportunities taking shape at the Yamhill Valley Campus and how Chemeketa continues to serve students and communities throughout Yamhill County. Then, rather than letting him escape during the break, Jessica and Les keep Paul in the hot seat for a look at what’s happening at Chemeketa Eola and its Wine Studies program. From campus happenings to hands-on education in the heart of Oregon wine country, it’s one guest, two locations, and plenty to talk about.
