It brings me great pain to let everyone know that I will be shutting the studio down for personal reasons. It’s been a wonderful few years with my students, but I need to focus on my health and well-being. The studio will be closed at the end of August and I’ll have everyone pick up any instruments or bring back any rentals by then.
Anyone who has special permit to keep a rental instrument will continue to keep their instrument until they are finished with it.
Thank you, parents, for your patience and understanding. You’ve all been wonderful and supportive of my decision to close. My husband and I are thankful for those of you who have made this studio possible and I wish all students many great years of success ahead. I’ll have my own recommendations for a teacher by the end of the month for saxophone and clarinet.
Best wishes!

My favorite place to get instrument tags from. They’re as bright or as neutral as you want them to be and you’ll always know what instrument is yours to keep it safe and sound ❤️
It's back to school season. All you mommas know - school supply lists as long as your arm with new backpack and lunch box to boot.
Take time to label supplies so things don't go missing. Our key ring and clip tags make labeling bags, pencil pouches, and water bottles simple. They are made with marine grade fabric, so they hold up to heavy use and can be washed (my own kids have original tags from 5+years ago still ☺️)

What’s everyone’s favorite lip balm this year?
I usually keep a box of Burt’s Bees out for the kids to take. I don’t know what the new “it” balms are. I don’t mind buying locally sourced, either! Let me know!
I’ll also be restocked on cork grease, as well. There was actually a shortage on them! I had to buy single sticks for a little bit because I couldn’t find them in packs and everyone was selling out.
If anyone needs wood care supplies for their wooden clarinets, I now source from BMS. They are superior quality but are about $35 for the care pack so let me know ahead of time so I can order in. Synthetic is also available in a care kit, as well. I suggest this kit for marching band grossness.
I’ll also be switching Saxophone Protec neck straps to Vandoren. This, I am excited about as a sax player. 🙂 I love their neck straps!

I’m sure most of you have heard about my Bourkie, Kirby.
I’ll be keeping my schedule tomorrow and teaching. If anything changes and I have to cancel, I’ll let everyone know. But there’s really nothing I can do, at this time, but continue to teach tomorrow.
Thank you for all the kind words and support. 💕
Share some pictures of your student to share with the studio! I’m going to hang lighted clipped lights to the studio and I would LOVE any and ALL photos of students to hang on them! I’m going to have over 40 lights so share ALL! You can either share here, if you’re comfortable, or share in text or DMs! I’m SO excited to get the studio to a zen layout. I talked to some of the boys AND girls about how they feel and both had GREAT responses so I am looking forward to NO fluorescent lighting! booooOOOo
I have had POSITIVE remarks from both the boys AND girls about the lighting and I agree! I am here for BOTH lighting!
I will be taking a little time to adjust lighting in the studio. I noticed it bothered others as much as it bothers me. I have harsh, fluorescent lighting and I’d like to move to lamp lights and ambient lighting. Hang in there with me as I adjust the studio lighting 🙂
Each student will be able to decide what kind of lighting they prefer but I’d like to also include low lighting for students. This will include the blinds shut, ambient decorative lights and salt lamps on top of the lamp lights.
YES! It’s OKAY to tell me that the light bothers you. Speak up if you are having trouble here! I do not bite! I will always listen to the voices that come into my studio.
This is a place where we adjust to the environment that YOU (your students) are able to learn the best in. Fortunately, I too, have lighting issues. My house is low light for my husband and I. 🙂 I get it! I am Autistic and lighting is a struggle in the studio! I notice this more as I spend more time with them at night.
Let’s work on it- Fluorescent lighting is horrible!
My studio is disability and mental health friendly. I would like to continue to make it this way!

EDIT: 50% HAS BEEN DONATED. Please continue! Share to friends and family! I will cut off with a post but anything extra will be used for the Vandoren Free Reed Program!
I have a student that is in massive need of a new clarinet mouthpiece. Just a kiddo doing their best to save on their own for one. I’d really like a studio music win for them.
Can we help them out and do a little donation love? The mouthpiece will cost $100. I’ll be, of course, putting in my own donation to help.
Anything anyone can do to throw in the donation pot would be so helpful!
This is my Venmo.
I personally go to Cleveland and pick up accessories so I do not use Amazon for mouthpieces or ligatures so my students have a receipt with warranties.
Note: I will always remind everyone with their totals for donations in April for tax purposes. I keep track of donations.

Happy Father’s Day to the dads that brought music into our lives.
Here’s to MY dad, Nicholas Hartner, who gave ME the gift of music. Who worked endless cement jobs to afford the clarinet I own today. And to the stubborn attitude that I have that refused to give that clarinet up for a “better” one.
Pictured below is my dad at one of my last Severance Hall concerts. I had the honor and privilege to perform on this stage many times. And it’s all thanks to him… for believing in me… For giving me that perseverance. I miss him more than words can say. He passed away when I was 21, in 2010.
