As Oregon heads into wildfire season, prevention is key. Many wildfires start from everyday activities—dragging trailer chains, unattended campfires, or improperly discarded ci******es. Following local burn restrictions and taking a few simple precautions can help protect our forests and communities. 🔥🌲

Protect your home this wildfire season:
• Clear flammable brush and debris
• Maintain at least 30 feet of defensible space
• Follow all local burn restrictions
• Secure trailers and extinguish campfires completely

Seized Illegal Narcotics Highlight:

1. During a traffic stop, drugs were observed hanging out of the suspect's pocket. Approximately 200 grams of Fentanyl, packaging material, and cash, were located on the suspect. The suspect was identified as Adrian Becerra (35yr). Becerra was found to have multiple warrants for his arrest. Becerra was taken into custody for Delivery of Fentanyl, Resisting Arrest, Giving False Information to a Police Officer, and Escape in the Third Degree.

2. During a recent traffic stop the driver was found to have a criminally suspended driving status. The suspect was arrested and a tow was requested for the vehicle. The vehicle was inventoried and deputies located a large quantity of narcotics, packaging materials, and cash; including 352 grams of Methamphetamine, 28 grams of Fentanyl, and 0.8 grams of Dimethyltryptamine (DMT). The suspect was taken into custody for Delivery of Methamphetamine, Delivery of Fentanyl, and Delivery of DMT.

Marion County Sheriff’s Office announces K-9 retirement.

Loki, our Institutions K-9, joined MCSO in 2018. Loki was a dedicated Narcotics Detection K-9 for 8 years, and he will be missed.

A big thank you to K-9 Loki, and his handler Deputy Swendsen, for all the hard work they put in over the years. K-9 Loki will be adopted by Deputy Swendsen and his family, where he will enjoy his retirement.

We wish Loki the best and all the treats in his retirement.

We have been receiving new scam alerts from "MCSO employees" using number (503) 506-3500 (SINCH/VoIP number), where you can pay for your loved one to not go to jail. They ask you to go to markets and pay through digital currency machines. Reminder that we will not have you go anywhere but one of our offices to pay, and we don't accept digital currency.

When in doubt, please hang up, and call non-emergency at 503-588-5032.

Congratulations to Deputy Ty Pearson on completing the Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP)!

Originally from Independence, Oregon, Deputy Pearson has successfully completed months of intensive training and is preparing to begin serving the community on his own.

When he's off duty, Ty enjoys playing video games and spending time with his friends and family.

When asked what inspired him to pursue a career in law enforcement, Ty shared that his family has been his greatest motivation. He credits his dad for always encouraging him to keep going and never quit, while the continued support of his family and friends has helped him achieve his goals.

MCSO Investigates Drowning in Scotts Mills County Park

On August 4, 2026, at approximately 8:24 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a possible drowning at Scotts Mills County Park. Upon arrival, the victim was not located.

Early this morning, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Dive Team searched Butte Creek at Scotts Mills Falls and recovered the body of a 20-year-old man.

The Sheriff's Office extends its condolences to the victim's family and asks the public to respect their privacy during this difficult time.

No additional details will be released at this time.

We ask the public to avoid Scotts Mills County Park while this investigation continues.

Seized Illegal Fi****ms Highlight:

1. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for violations. The driver was found to be suspended, and a tow was requested for the vehicle. A subsequent inventory of the items of value in the vehicle located a concealed firearm. Deputies relocated the suspect, who did not have a valid Concealed Handgun License (CHL), and he was taken into custody for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

2. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for violations. Salem Police advised they had probable cause to arrest the driver, who was detained. A pat down discovered a loaded firearm in the suspects waistband. The suspect was taken into custody for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

We had a great weekend full of events! We had the privilege of attending Stayton Wilco Pet Days, Woodburn Community Connection Day, and Back to School Shop with a Cop.
