"Project Perpetuate" in Salem, NH, is a historical oral history preservation project started in the early 1970s. Founded by local historians Howard Turner and Richard Noyes, the project was designed to capture, archive, and protect the personal memories and voices of Salem's long-time residents for future generations.

The core philosophy was built on the belief that future generations would find immense value and pleasure in hearing the literal voices and firsthand accounts of the people who shaped Salem. The recordings focus heavily on Salem’s transition from a rural, market-gardening economy to a modern town. Interviewees include prominent local figures, multi-generational farmers, and everyday citizens sharing stories about growing up on Salem Street, running local family businesses, and volunteering.

In the spirit of that preservation effort, Salem Community Television began production on "Project Perpetuate II." The premiere episode features Doug Seed Jr and Barbara Lessard, both lifelong Salem residents.

Can you believe this was over 50 years ago?
The 1975 NH High School Division 1 "Superbowl" (it was okay to use that term in those days), Salem vs Trinity, kicked off at Grant Memorial Field to an enthusiastic crowd, and let's just say that Salem did not disappoint.
Along with a dominant Blue Devil team, the Salem High School Marching Band and Color Guard performed a stellar halftime show.

The multi-reel black and white videotapes have recently been digitized and will be cablecast again this fall on Salem's local cable access. In the meantime, you can watch a sneak Peak this Saturday night at 8pm on the Salem Community Television page. https://www.facebook.com/sctv17/

This is a screenshot from a 1975 videotape, it shows the back of Woodbury School. I remember the concrete "stairs” that were partially covered over at the time. I always thought that they were bleachers for the field at Woodbury High School. Am I correct and they were indeed bleachers? Does anyone recall watching a game from them?
