4-H is the premier youth development program conducted by the University of Arkansas, Division of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension Service.

4-H--the four H’s we emphasize are: Head, Heart, Hands, and Health--is designed to prepare young people to step up to the challenges in their

communities and provide youth with the skills to lead for a lifetime. The core elements of 4-H include youth leadership, youth-adult partnerships, life skills learning, and community service. 4‑H programs are grounded in the belief that youth learn best by doing. 4-H members complete hands-on projects in areas like science, health, agriculture, and citizenship in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Last week, we wrapped up a Post-Emergent Henbit Suppression Demo here in Fulton County. We compared common herbicides that were sourced locally, and discovered that 2, 4-D amine had the best overall post-emergent control of Henbit of the products tested.
Many homeowners called this Spring about how to eliminate henbit in their yards, which inspired this demo. Thank you to the producer who allowed me to complete this demo on their yard.
Please note that henbit is a heavy seeder. A timely fall pre-emergent application is ideal. We will add another plot to this trial later this year and check back on the stand next Spring.

25 Fulton County 4-H members picked up their 4-H Poultry Chain chicks. This project is designed to teach youth about raising poultry from chick to production. We are excited to hear about what they learn through this project and hope to see their poultry exhibited this summer in the fair.🐣🍀

Fulton County 4H Poultry Club had their monthly meeting tonight. They talked about upcoming shows, bird maintenance and preparations for shows, animal nutrition, showmanship tips and tricks, and passed out club shirts. We are excited to see all that they accomplish in the upcoming show season!🐣🍀

We have decided to cancel the Hay Production Meeting scheduled for this Friday due to low attendance. We always want to make sure programs are a good use of everyone’s time and unfortunately we did not have enough registrations for this one.

If you are interested in hay production information, please contact the Extension office and we will be glad to get that information to you.

We will still be having the second Little Red River Beef Meeting on Friday, and we would love for you to attend that meeting.

HUGE day for Fulton County 4-H! This was a new competition for us and our Junior/Intermediate Team came home with a STATE CHAMPION title! 🏆🐎🍀
8 members went and competed in the State Horse Judging in Fayetteville and represented our county well! They also brought home quite a few ribbons. We are so proud of them!
Thank you to Leader Dustin Wright for spearheading this experience for our youth.

Results from today:
Junior Team - 1st Place Overall (State Champs!)
Reagan N. - member of 4th Place Team

Overall Individual Standings:
2nd Place - Cannon N.
6th place - Bayler W.
10th place individual - Korben P.

Cannon N. was also 2nd Place Individual in both the halter AND performance classes.
