Congratulations to Dr. Alisha McBride, Superintendent of the Vale School District , on being named the 2027 Oregon Superintendent of the Year! Under her leadership, graduation rates have climbed from 86% to 95% and attendance has grown by more than 22 points — proof of her vision and commitment to every student. She now advances to national recognition through AASA, and we'll celebrate her at the OSBA Annual Convention in November and the COSA Winter Conference in February. Join us in congratulating Dr. McBride!

So proud to celebrate two of COSA's own! Our Executive Director, Dr. Krista Parent and Dr. Ryan Noss, Corvallis Superintendent and COSA's 2027 Board President, had their article "Communicating Bad News During Hard Financial Times" selected for AASA, The School Superintendents Association School Administrator magazine's "Best of 2025-26" digital issue — featured on page 48.

If you've ever had to deliver tough financial news to your school community, this piece is well worth the read.

COSA is proud to name Melinda Bessner of Zaner-Bloser the 2026 COSA Vendor of the Year.

If you've been to a COSA conference, you probably already know Melinda. She's curious, warm, and genuinely interested in the people around her — your students, your school, your challenges. She remembers what you told her last year. She follows up. She shows up.

Congratulations, Melinda. Thank you for continuing to serve COSA leaders.

COSA is proud to honor Dr. Mark Mulvihill, Superintendent of InterMountain Education Service District , as the recipient of the 2026 Jerry Colonna Lifetime Achievement Award — one of our organization's highest honors.

Over a remarkable 38-year career, Dr. Mulvihill has served Oregon students and educators as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent. His leadership has shaped education policy, championed equity, and developed generations of educational leaders across Eastern Oregon and beyond.

The Silent Auction is back at Seaside—and it’s one of our favorite traditions.

This year, every bid supports something bigger. Proceeds will fund Oregon Strong student scholarships, helping students share what’s right in their schools and communities.

Exhibitors—start thinking about your gift basket.
Attendees—come ready to browse, bid, and take something fun home.

Let’s have a little fun and make a real impact together.

Seaside is where the work slows down just enough to reconnect.

With each other. With why we lead. With what’s possible.

Bring your team. Bring your family. Bring your game face for the pickleball tournament.

We’ll see you in Seaside.
