Nestled within 700 acres of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Camp Roanoke is conveniently located just off Interstate 81 exit 132. Since 1925, our campers have enjoyed outdoor adventures such as canoeing, field games, hiking, campfires and a challenge course complete with a 44-foot climbing tower. Older campers will enjoy off-site excursions like rock climbing and caving. Younger campers can st

ay for just the day with free satellite transportation. Our affordable tuition includes lodging, meals, and everything needed for a week of outdoor adventure and fun. Camp Roanoke offers a full season of residential summer camps for youth that will create memories to last a lifetime ... all in an environment that is accredited by the American Camp Association.

Join us on August 8th and 9th from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm for our Bye-Bye Break program at Camp Roanoke. It’s the ultimate way for campers to reunite with friends, dive back into their favorite activities, and squeeze out one last bit of summer fun.

We’ll have classic camp games, marshmallow roasting around the fire, and plenty of outdoor excitement to make a few final unforgettable memories before the season wraps up.

From Morning Bullseyes to Midnight Hikes! 🏹🌕

Get the kids outside and active with our upcoming outdoor lineup at Camp Roanoke and Explore Park! We have three unique ways to experience the beauty of Roanoke County:

🏃‍♂️ Weekend Recess (April 26): Let the kids blow off some steam at Camp Roanoke with tag, camp games, and nature crafts. (Parents stay for the fun!)
🎯 Archery Basics (May 2): Perfect for ages 12-15 to learn focus, safety, and the thrill of hitting the bullseye at Explore Park.
🌕 Full Moon Hike (May 2): Experience Explore Park like never before! A guided night adventure under the glow of the full moon.

Explore, grow, and reconnect this March at Explore Park and Camp Roanoke!

We have a diverse lineup of outdoor discovery and skill-building sessions coming up on Saturday, March 28. Whether you want to dive into hidden ecosystems or develop leadership potential, there is a spot waiting for you:

Wetlands & Vernal Pools (Explore Park): Discover a hotspot of Virginia biodiversity! We’ll take a half-mile hike (including some steep terrain) to find local freshwater wildlife and learn how to protect these vital habitats. 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

Forest Bathing (Explore Park): Unplug with a slow, meditative walk designed to engage all your senses. We’ll wrap up the experience with a refreshing cup of tea and a group reflection at the Visitor Center. 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.

Teen Leadership Workshop (Camp Roanoke): Empower the next generation! Teens will dive into communication and teamwork activities to discover their unique potential. Please bring a packed lunch and dress for the weather (closed-toe shoes required). 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

We have two incredible outdoor adventures coming up on Saturday, February 28, that your kids won’t want to miss!

🎯 Archery Basics (Ages 8-11):
Give your young archer the chance to learn the fundamentals of range safety, stance, and aim. This program is designed to build focus and confidence through fun target games led by our expert instructors at Explore Park.

🦉 Owl Prowl:
Become a creature of the night! 🌙 Kids will get a hands-on science lesson by dissecting real owl pellets before heading out on a guided twilight hike to listen for wild owls in action at Camp Roanoke. It’s a unique blend of learning and nocturnal excitement you won't find anywhere else! (Please note: Children must be accompanied by an adult).
