We have had 10 wonderful years but it is time to close our school. I just want to say thank you to all the families who have made Roots a magical place over the years. Thank you for your support and confidence as we worked with your children. You have amazing children! Thank you to all the staff who worked so hard, and loved the kids so deeply. It has been such a pleasure working with you. Although I am sad to see this chapter end, I know it is time. We are all ready for some new adventures.

This Saturday, July 31st, I am having a sale from 9-1 at the school. Everything is for sale so come on by and see what we have. We also have free Roots sweatshirts and T-shirts until they are gone!

Please share if you know anyone in need of school related items.

Sincerely,

Krysti

Just reminiscing about our end of the year parties hosted by the Avison family. So grateful to them for sharing their property and feeding us! đź’•

Crawling to the end…pizza at the park and a cold Kona Ice treat definitely helps!

Our school had the unique privilege of being a part of a Wild Mustang presentation. Lydia and Mia shared with us their experience preparing these wild horses for human interaction and it was fascinating. Thanks to Second Chance Ranch for hosting us (and letting us pet Bobble-Head the rescue duck🥰)

Friday, our middle schoolers visited 2nd Chance Ranch, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing horses and other animals. They helped clean up saddles, brush horses, clean several stalls, and of course, made friends with all.the.animals. Check out their page @ Second Chance Ranch-horse rescue.

What a sweet surprise coming to work today! Our elementary kids spread kindness yesterday by smothering us with encouraging notes, picking up trash, and even pulling weeds. Happy Friday!! Go share some kindness!

Friday was our annual Roots Got Talent and boy do we have a talented bunch of middle school students! The showcase included paper airplane making, magic tricks, drawing, volleyball and baseball catcher skills, fishing (lures and casting), piano, harmonica, recorder playing, joke telling, puppeteering and more! From the serious to the silly, we were impressed with the acts and even more impressed with the courage they demonstrate just to get up in front of their peers.

Elementary students have been busy lately! They were thrilled to receive their certificates for entering the Oregon Agriculture Calendar/Art Contest. They visited Hollyhock Acres last Friday to hand-craft Mother's Day bouquets. And yesterday, they spent most of the day on a 'Salem Tour' visiting many historical sites and learning about the history of the city they live in! We'll finish our 'tour' tomorrow with a stop at Mission Mill and their final trip to the library for the year. Learning is fun and this is a great crew!

This time last week our middle schoolers were just arriving at the Astoria Column to begin our 3-day big adventure! Some other sights we visited were Fort Columbia, Cape Disappointment, Maritime Museum on a mission to design and test an ROV, Oregon Film Museum, Fort Stevens, Fort Clatsop (Lewis and Clark), and some fun time in Seaside! Lots of learning, lots of fun, lots of memories, lots of tired-ha! Here's just a peek....

Thank you Zorns at Cafe Yumm for so generously providing lunch for our students and staff and sharing what it’s like to own a business. It was informative and YUMM!
