Factual Friday etymology edition!
Turns out bobbins have always been a bit noisy!
Bobbin as a word dates back to the 1500s French term ‘Bobine’ which was a spool yarn was wound around in tapestry making. It may have even older roots in the Latin ‘balbas’ (where we get the word babble from!) for the clickity clacking noise the bobine made and that bobbins are still kinda sorta making today!

Factual Friday fleece edition! Fleece hails from the Disco era, first appearing in the late 70s and designed to be a lighter weight, more water resistant alternative to natural wool for outdoor apparel. It is a polyester knit fabric (remember the loops!) which give it a bit of stretch. The fibers are then brushed to create loft and the air pockets that offer fleece’s amazing insulating properties without adding bulk. Being polyester it is also water resistant, wrinkle resistant and easy to care for (unlike wool. Sorry sheepies).
