Spirit Week next week at GMS! Go Highlanders!

We look forward to seeing our 6th graders and new students for orientation tomorrow morning (8/10) at 9:00 am! Parents will meet in the GMS Forum and students will report to the gym (beside the Forum). You can park in the back of GHS/GMS. There will be limited parking in the lot at the front of GMS. Also, students will receive a paper copy of their schedules.

We look forward to welcoming our returning 7th and 8th graders at our open house tomorrow (8/10) between 5:30-7:00 pm!

Good afternoon, Glenvar Middle families!

We trust you are enjoying a pleasant summer season and finding opportunities to replenish after a long year. Our final newsletter of the 2020-21 school year is ready and geared toward celebrating the many accomplishments our amazing student body accrued. Additionally, you will find a few details regarding the upcoming fall sports season as well as a link to the most up-to-date version of the VHSL physical form.

Stay tuned for future information as GMS gears up for the 2021-22 school year.

Coach Butler wants young ladies interested in volleyball to know open gyms will take place at Glenvar High, from 5 to 7pm, and on the following dates:

JUNE 2nd
JUNE 8th
JUNE 10th
JUNE 29th
JULY 1st
JULY 13th
JULY 15th

Coach Butler also wants you to know the GLENVAR CAMP will take place June 14th through 17th and a ROANOKE COLLEGE CAMP will take place JUNE 21st through 24th. No open gyms will take place during camp weeks.

has included sweet treats and clever comments, a huge pizza lunch courtesy of Fellowship Community Church, and gift cards thanks to our friends at Chick-fil-A! Next stop? Tasty muffins provided by the GMS PTO as well as a Friday pizza lunch provided by our very own Roanoke County School Board!

Many thanks to all for supporting and recognizing our faculty and staff for their diligent efforts this year. This team has truly fought hard to provide students with meaningful learning and a quality middle school experience despite numerous, changing hardships. Nearly every aspect of the school day had to be deconstructed and reconstructed in order to account for COVID. It hasn’t been easy and is often messy, but they are getting it done!
