The Successful Reader Tutoring

I have recently completed my Associate-level Orton-Gillingham training and am seeking a student to work with as part of my practicum.

This is a valuable opportunity for a child to receive high-quality, structured literacy instruction at a discounted rate while I complete my certification.

I am looking for a student who:
• Shows signs of dyslexia or has a dyslexia diagnosis
• Is reading at a beginning level (short vowels and consonants)
• Is ideally in 2nd–4th grade
• Does not have other significant learning needs
• Can commit to 2–3 sessions per week (approximately 100 lessons, 55 minutes each) for 8-10 months

I am a retired teacher and the owner of a tutoring practice specializing in students with dyslexia and language-based learning differences. I am Wilson Certified, CERI Certified, EBLI Certified, and LETRS credentialed, with over 20 years of experience supporting struggling readers. I am excited to share an encouraging case study about one of my students. In June, I began meeting twice a week with Sophia. She was reading at a beginning first grade level. Knowing that she had no time to waste, I began using Evidence Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI) methods right away. Within a few weeks she was reading multisyllabic words. Now, less than 6 months later, she is reading on grade level!
