It's the start of a new year, and a time to refresh ourselves and our commitment to self care. Refresh yourself with FUN exercise in the company of others in our delightful 'village'! See flyer below.
This class is not just for beginners. While we will teach basic skills and 'easier' dances, we are hard at work dredging up some wonderful 'older' dances that have fallen out of our repertoire. There should be something new for everyone!
Note: For those of you who actually check calendars and/or are excellent at math, we will interrupt this class with a party on Wednesday, Feb 14!
Another note: We have dropped the Covid vaccine requirement for attendance. Please continue to mask or refrain from attending if you have been exposed to any contagious illnesses, as we have several dancers that are vulnerable. Thank you for your consideration.
We'd love to see you there! Bring your friends! (and yes, we are dancing on Jan. 10 in case you just can't wait!! : )

Salem (Oregon) International Folk Dancers is a recreational, social club and 501c(3) organization dedicated to the promotion of Folk Dancing as a fun and educational activity for all ages.
No previous dance experience nor partner is needed to have a fun night of music and dance! We offer accessible dance opportunities for new dancers and challenges for our experienced folks as well. We do dances from most parts of the world, from Bulgaria to Bolivia, from Ireland to Isreal, Turkey to Taiwan. Learning about dance, music and the cultures of various ethnic groups around the globe is enlightening, uplifting, and fun. Come join our ‘Village” as we celebrate the world!
SIFD has been in existence since…the 1950’s???
Our regular weekly classes/dances feature both teaching and reviews of dances and request dancing. The first hour of dancing is dedicated to the teaching of dances – both revisiting old favorites and learning new-to-us dances. The remainder of our time together is spent dancing to the requested dances of those present.
SIFD is a member of the National Folk Organization and the Northwest Folk Dancers.
We meet every Wednesday evening, starting at 7:00 p.m. and dance no later than 9:15 p.m. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, we continue to meet on holidays and through the summer months. But feel free to call the contact number below to verify there is no unusual schedule change before you leave home.
