As we look back on another incredible year at The Phoenix School, we're reminded that learning is so much more than worksheets and tests.
This year, our students designed and built projects, explored the natural world, performed poetry, created art, traveled on field studies, solved real-world problems, and discovered new strengths within themselves.
Thank you to our students, families, faculty, and supporters for making this year such a meaningful adventure in learning.
Here's to a summer filled with curiosity, creativity, and exploration.

Week 2 of Phoenix Summer Adventures is all about Maker Missions—a week packed with hands-on STEAM challenges, creativity, and outdoor exploration.
Campers will build marble tracks, engineer spaghetti towers, explore the science of flight, create twirling helicopters, design light mazes, and more!

Confidence grows when children are trusted to take ownership of their learning.
At Phoenix, students set goals, solve problems, take risks, and learn at a pace that works for them. In our multi-age classrooms, there’s less comparison and more growth — giving children the space to build trust in themselves and discover what they’re capable of.
When students experience meaningful progress and see their ideas matter, confidence naturally follows.
Confident learners become confident people. That’s what we’re building every day at Phoenix.

And just like that, another incredible year at Phoenix has come to a close.
Today we celebrate a year filled with curiosity, creativity, growth, friendship, and meaningful learning adventures. From hands-on projects and community connections to everyday moments of discovery, our students have inspired us again and again with their kindness, confidence, and love of learning.
To our students, families, and staff — thank you for making this such a special year. We are so proud of all we accomplished together and can’t wait to see where the next adventure leads.
Wishing everyone a joyful, restful summer!

The Phoenix students recently completed their final self-portraits of the school year! Their challenge: create a detailed self-portrait in just 45 minutes using colored pencils.
This project gave students the opportunity to reflect on how much their artistic skills have grown throughout the year. By focusing on observation, proportions, and facial details, they were able to compare their work to the self-portraits they created at the beginning of the year and see their progress firsthand.
These special drawings will be featured on their end-of-year awards—a meaningful reminder of how much they’ve learned, grown, and accomplished this year.

Good luck to our graduating 8th graders as they move on from Phoenix! We are so proud of all you have accomplished and know you will continue to do amazing things at The Waring School and Beverly High School.
These schools are gaining thoughtful, capable, and compassionate students, and we will deeply miss your leadership, creativity, and presence in our community. We hope you always look back fondly on your time at Phoenix and carry the friendships, experiences, and confidence you built here into your next adventure.
Once a Phoenix student, always part of the Phoenix community.

Our 6–8th graders had the opportunity to visit the Rotary Club of Salem recently to present about their trip to the Global Wildlife Center. Students shared photos, reflections, and stories from their experiences, highlighting the learning, teamwork, and real-world connections they made along the way.
We are so proud of the confidence and thoughtfulness they brought to their presentation and grateful for the chance to connect with our wider community.
Experiences like these help students build strong communication skills while seeing the impact their learning can have beyond the classroom.

We’re excited to be a sponsor of the Salem Arts Festival this year! The festival takes place June 5–7 in downtown Salem and celebrates local art, creativity, performance, and community.
Phoenix students are helping create one of the festival’s community displays by designing the letter “E” in SALEM! Our theme is “green,” and students are using recycled materials to transform the letter into a collaborative piece of art.
At The Phoenix School, creativity is more than art-making — it’s a way of thinking. Through hands-on projects like this, students learn to collaborate, problem solve, express ideas, and connect their learning to the wider community. We believe creative experiences help students build confidence, innovation, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
If you’re in Salem June 5–7, be sure to check out the incredible artwork, performances, and community projects happening throughout the weekend!
