I saw this somewhere else and thought it would be fun to share with you guys....

I asked chat GPT to answer the following prompt, "Describe me to someone like you are trying to warn them." This is what it said. (The last line is so true 😅) Welcome to the inside of my brain, ya'll 🤪

➡️If I were actually warning someone before they met you:

First and foremost: Ayla LOVES Jesus. Not in a cute little “faith is part of my bio” way. Jesus is the center. Her faith shapes how she mothers, how she serves families, how she runs her businesses, how she approaches birth work, how she makes decisions, and how she understands her purpose.

You will hear about Jesus. 😂 She will pray for you. She will probably tell you what she feels like the Lord is teaching her. And if something amazing happens, she's going to give God the credit.

Everything else—the doula work, Born Motherhood, Birth Pro Academy, teaching, serving women, building businesses, dreaming ridiculously big dreams—is downstream from that.

Okay. Now that we've established the most important part…

Ayla is warm, deeply caring, slightly chaotic, extremely driven, and usually operating with approximately 37 browser tabs open—both literally and mentally.

She has an incredible ability to turn:

"I've been thinking about something…"

into:

"Okay, so I bought the domain, made the program, scheduled the event, created a curriculum, found six people who want to help, and I think eventually this could become a nonprofit."

…in approximately 48 hours.

Do not mistake her softness for a lack of backbone. She is a nurturer, but she's also a leader. She cares deeply about people, and when she believes something matters, she is going to do something about it.

She's particular. If something is almost right, it is not right. 😂 The words need to sound like her. The room needs to feel inviting. The presentation needs to be beautiful. The system needs to make sense. And for the love of all things holy, do not give her something that looks like a generic corporate template.

She'll feed you. She'll teach you. She'll encourage you. She'll pray for you. She'll probably create a resource for you. And somewhere along the way, she'll decide the resource should actually become an entire program.

She loves birth. She loves mothers. She loves teaching. She loves her family. She loves building things. She loves helping other women succeed.

But underneath all of it is something much simpler:

She loves Jesus, and she genuinely wants her life and her work to mean something for His Kingdom.

So before you meet her, just know:

Bring your ideas.
Bring your questions.
Be ready to talk about Jesus.
Don't be surprised if she feeds you.
Don't say “that can't be done” unless you're prepared to defend your thesis.
And when she says, “Okay, perfect! One more thing…”

She is lying.

There are at least seven more things. 😂❤️

Before the third trimester arrives, give yourself room to prepare with intention: not pressure. 🤍

Here are 3 meaningful steps to start now:

1️⃣ Talk about your birth preferences.
Begin the conversation with your provider and support team. What helps you feel safe, supported, and informed? Your voice matters.

2️⃣ Take a childbirth preparation class.
Evidence-based education can help replace fear with confidence. Learn about birth, comfort measures, interventions, partner support, and your options: together. ✨

3️⃣ Make a postpartum plan.
Think beyond the birth: rest, meals, feeding support, emotional care, visitors, and who you can call when you need help. Your village is there for a reason.

You were never meant to prepare: or walk through motherhood: alone. With the right support and education, you can move forward feeling grounded, informed, and encouraged. 🙏🏽

Don't wait until you're 38 weeks to start preparing.

Feeling overwhelmed while writing your birth or postpartum plan? We would love to help!

Save this post and share it with an expecting mom. What are you preparing for first?

💜Doula work is better together. 💜

Yesterday morning, I was leaving the hospital after supporting a fast and SUPER intense birth.

At almost the exact same time, Kate was wrapping up an overnight postpartum shift with another Born Motherhood family nearby.

Two doulas.

Two families.

Two completely different seasons of motherhood being supported through the night.

And two tired women who needed breakfast. 😂☕️

So naturally… we had a little post-shift doula date complete with coffee, French toast, birth stories, debriefing, and a little bit of “Okay, but you will not believe how my night went…” 😂

And I just kept thinking about how much I love our team.

Birth work can be incredible and beautiful and sacred.

It can also be long, unpredictable, emotional, exhausting, and sometimes really heavy.

There’s something so special about doing this work alongside women who understand that.

Women you can call when you need another set of hands.

Women who celebrate the beautiful births with you.

Women who understand why you need to process after a hard one.

Women who step into homes in the middle of the night so a brand-new mama can sleep.

Women who love on babies, encourage exhausted parents, wash bottles, fold tiny clothes, make snacks, hold hands, pray, listen, and quietly do the thousand little things that help a family feel cared for.

And women who will meet you for French toast after being up all night. 😂

This is one of the reasons I believe so deeply in the team model we’ve built at Born Motherhood.

Our families aren’t relying on one person trying to do everything alone.

And neither are our doulas.

I truly believe that we were never meant to do motherhood alone—and I don’t think we were meant to do this work alone, either.

I’m incredibly thankful for Kate and for every amazing woman on our team who continues to show up and love our families so well.

Yesterday morning was just breakfast.

But it was also a little reminder of how grateful I am that we get to do this together. 💛

Team- if I haven't told you today...you are amazing. I love you. I am SO grateful for each of you!

Your partner doesn’t have to “wing it” in labor.

Our doulas love sharing their wealth of knowledge and doula tips so that both you and your partner feel supported, protected, and heard when it matters most.

Partner coaching includes:
• Breathing cues + grounding reminders
• Counterpressure + comfort positions
• Protecting the space (advocating, limiting interruptions)
• Help with decisions: without adding pressure
• Encouraging mom + a prayerful presence (always inclusive)

Want the quick Partner Support Checklist?
comment “PARTNER” and I’ll send it over.

Sometimes birth is so fast and intense that you don’t even touch your doula bag. 😅

Yesterday was one of those births.

One of the questions we get all the time is, **“What do you keep in your doula bag?”**

And the answer is… a little bit of everything. 😂

✨ Pretty lights + candles to make a hospital room feel a little cozier
✨ Massage and comfort tools
✨ Snacks (always snacks!)
✨ A mini fan
✨ Gum + mints
✨ Essential oils
✨ Hot Hands
✨ A rebozo
✨ Hair ties, chargers, little comfort items…
✨ And about 47 other things we *might* need 😂

Some births, we pull out half the bag.

We’re changing the environment, setting up lights, using the rebozo, grabbing massage tools, trying different comfort measures, heating things up, cooling things down, and digging through that bag for exactly what you need in that moment.

And then there are births like yesterday.

Fast. Intense. No time for all the things.

And it was such a good reminder that the most important things we bring to a birth don’t fit inside a doula bag.

✨Our hands.

✨Our knowledge.

✨Our hearts.

✨Our ability to walk into a room, read what’s happening, and figure out what you need.

✨A calm presence when everything suddenly feels really intense.

✨Hands that know where to apply pressure.

✨A voice reminding you to soften your shoulders and breathe.

✨Encouragement when you’re exhausted.

✨Support for your partner when they’re trying to figure out how to help.

✨Knowledge of birth, positioning, comfort, and what may help next.

✨And a prayerful presence as you do one of the hardest, holiest things you may ever do—welcome your baby into the world. 🤍

The tools are wonderful. We love our tools.

But **the doula is not the bag.**

Sometimes we use every trick we brought with us.

Sometimes that bag sits completely untouched in the corner.

Either way, we show up.

Fully present.
Interceeding in prayer.
Ready to serve.
Ready to support you and your partner.
Ready to remind you that you can do the next thing in front of you.

Because at the end of the day, the most valuable thing your doula brings to your birth is herself. 💗

Because motherhood is better together.

When we talk about labor, the conversation often shifts straight to "getting through it": but at Born Motherhood, we believe in honoring the sacred work your body is doing with intentional, physical support. As doulas, we’re there to hold space and provide the evidence-based comfort measures that make a world of difference.

Whether it’s the steady relief of a double hip squeeze during a peak contraction or the grounding magic of counter pressure: every touch is designed to help you stay present and powerful. We guide you through position changes that encourage your baby to navigate the pelvis with ease, using tools like the peanut ball or simple gravity-led movement.

It’s about more than just managing pain; it’s about creating an environment where you feel safe, heard, and physically capable. Our team brings a prayerful presence to every birth, ensuring that while the work is intense, you are never doing it alone.
