Meet this year’s House leadership! 🎉

On Thursday, we had the pleasure of installing our new House Captains, along with our inaugural Head Boy and Head Girl.

House leadership plays an important role in the life of Christ Academy. Our student leaders have the opportunity to serve their peers, foster community within their Houses, encourage school spirit, and grow in the responsibility that comes with leadership.

We’re grateful for these students’ willingness to step forward and serve, and we’re excited to see how they will help lead and encourage our school community throughout the year.

🔥 Is a fire alive? 🔥

That was the burning question in Secondary Prep Science this week! Students chose sides and debated whether fire, which shares many qualities of living things, is truly alive.

Fire consumes oxygen, grows, responds to its environment, and even "reproduces" by spreading. But does that make it alive? Our students wrestled with the characteristics of living things, backed up their claims with evidence, and practiced thinking like real scientists.

We love seeing students dig into big questions, and this one definitely sparked some heated discussion! 😉

Our first week back has been full of joyful connection—with old friends, new friends, and the familiar rhythms of school. As we dusted off the books and settled back into our routines, we also began preparing our hearts and minds for the work of learning ahead of us this year.

We wrapped up the week by serving our community together! Students and staff partnered with the City of Salem to plant ground cover in new beds at Geer Park. What a wonderful way to begin the year: learning, growing, and serving together!

This summer, families have stayed connected through regular Park Days at different area parks. Our final Park Day of the summer will be Monday, August 17th from 11AM to 1PM at Englewood Park. Whether you're a new or returning family, we hope to see you there!

This will also be an opportunity for our final uniform swap, so if you have gently used items to share, please consider bringing them along for another family to benefit from!

What better way to bring another great school year to a close than with our annual year-end house competition?! Students engaged in fun and lighthearted games to celebrate their hard work and enjoy friendship within their house teams. A water balloon fight ended the day with hilarity, setting the summer off to a great start.
