Dear Eagle families,

Happy Friday and happy summer! We hope everyone is having a wonderful start to their summer break. It was a busy week at Eagle with the last few days of the school year culminating with field day and an assembly to say goodbye to fifth graders. We watched the fifth grade Egg Drop Challenge on Monday and five therapy dogs from Salem Dogs visited younger students. Then we had Disney Day on Tuesday, and field day on Wednesday. Congratulations to Luna & Carter (K) and Lucas (5) who won the library drawings for bikes or bike certificates. And many thanks to Big Sign Energy by Jen for the amazing School’s Out sign!

While today was the last day for teachers and instructional aides, the Eagle office will be open 8 AM to 4 PM June 15-18 and June 22-24. The office will then close for the summer and reopen on July 31.

For those interested in summer childcare, check out the Kindred Connect flyer (attached) for more information and registration.

There are a few things to do and ways to keep kids busy and learning over the summer:

The Salem Public Library has a summer reading program: https://salemoregon.readsquared.com/

The Salem Parks and Rec department offers classes and camps throughout the summer: https://egov.cityofsalem.net/ParksRec/Activity

The Berry Pass gets kids into a lot of different activities throughout the summer. You can learn more here: https://www.marionberriesbaseball.com/berrypass

Salem will have a Pride Celebration tomorrow (June 13) and a parade downtown. Learn more here: https://salemcapitalpride.org/pride-parade-and-block-party/

There are several events celebrating Juneteenth next Friday (June 19). You can learn more here: https://pressplaysalem.com/juneteenth-events-in-salem/

Have a safe and happy summer – stay cool!

All family members are welcome to participate in our next Roller Night on Monday, June 8, 3:15-4:00PM. Children must have helmets, working brakes, and be accompanied by a responsible adult/guardian.

We also have summer registration available for Kindred Connect. They'll be offering our before- and after-school care next year and providing childcare all summer long for families who need it. See the attached flyers for details.

Dear Eagle Families,

Happy Friday - and happy last day in May! It was a busy short week this week with Micro Night on Tuesday, a Parent FUNdraising Committee meeting and officer elections, a school board meeting, and the last Friday assembly and Green Zone of the year. It’s hard to believe that we have less than two weeks left in the school year! Students’ last day is June 10 – school is out at 12:20 on that day (a Wednesday).

Today’s assembly recognized students who are exemplary Eagle Citizens (safe, respectful, responsible, kind) in each grade. Congratulations to Arya & Rufael (K), Evelyn & Sasha (1), Lachlan & Raiden (2), Fiona & Riley (3), Benson & Quincy (4), and Arina, Paige, & Jordan (5). We are proud of you! Mr. Gaboury presented Reader of the Month awards to Autumn (3), Harper (2), and Sasha (1). Mr. Zach gave out a lot of certificates for jogathon. Students were recognized for running the most laps in their grade, some students for making the most improvement since last year’s laps, and some students for raising the most funds during jogathon. Shannon Priem, our School Board Chair, presented certificates to the Peer Helpers, Wren & Micah (4), who spoke at school board meetings, and we recognized three more students who have mastered their multiplication tables since March (Rayan, Quinn, and Isabella). Peer Helpers (Lucas, Paige, Neriah, and Micah) performed the last skit of the year. Well done, Eagles!

Eagle soccer is done for the year, but the GRASSP league would love parent feedback. If your child played soccer this year, please take a moment to complete this survey: https://l1nk.dev/qld7twb

A few important notes:
*Mr. L is hosting the first Roller Night (3:15-4:00) on Monday. Students are welcome to bring (nonmotorized) wheels and proper helmets and have fun rolling together on campus. Students must be accompanied by a responsible adult caregiver to participate. Some snacks and water will be provided. See attached flyer for details.

*The Walking Field Trip for K-3 is next Thursday! Pickup and drop off for all K-3 students is in downtown Salem. Please see the teachers' field trip directions for more information.

*Summer Enrichment is the first two weeks of August – a week of art camp and a week of robotics camp. Kindergarten Jumpstart also takes place and all incoming kindergarten students are required to participate. Register here: https://forms.gle/ZqMoYuuCDfZcteim8

*There is a free soccer camp for students in grades 3-5 June 17-19! See the attached flyer for details. Spots are limited!

Have a safe and happy weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday!

Dear Eagle Families,

Happy Friday! There is NO SCHOOL on Monday for Memorial Day. We hope that you all enjoy the long weekend.

Today was our annual Jogathon. Thank you to the Parent FUNdraising Committee for putting on a fun event, our parent volunteers for helping manage the chaos, the people who donated to individual students as part of the fundraiser, and all the family members who came out to cheer for our students. This year, our fifth grade/kindergarten buddies came out to cheer each other on, which was such a sweet sight. A big congratulations to all the Eagle students who kept moving the whole time, even when they were hot and tired. We will officially recognize the top runner in each class at our school assembly next week. Regardless of how many laps each child walked or ran, they all did their individual best (and will probably be pretty tired tonight!). Well done, Eagle students!

Kindergarten has been learning about butterflies and watched the whole process from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly over the past few weeks. Today, kindergarten and first grade got to watch as the new butterflies were released. This was a fun way to end our busy jogathon day.

Tuesday is MICRO NIGHT from 5:00-6:30PM. Please RSVP with your child’s teacher or the office before Tuesday morning so that we have enough food. At Micro Night, you’ll see what students have worked on throughout the year and have an opportunity to attend a play and purchase student products. Any money raised through Micro Night sales goes to funding supplies for next year’s Micro classes.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday! Have a lovely weekend.

Dear Eagle Families,

Happy Thursday! Today was Culture Day, and it was wonderful to see our students celebrating, learning, and sharing their unique backgrounds with one another.

A huge thank you to Ms. Nora for sharing her culture, inspiring the children, and encouraging them to share, and to Ms. Sabrina for her volunteer help and sharing her own culture as well! We are incredibly grateful to learn and grow in such a diverse community.

JOGATHON IS TOMORROW! Please help your child prepare by ensuring they have:

☀️ Sunscreen (applied before school)
👟 Comfortable running/walking shoes
💧 A water bottle
💛 Yellow or Eagle gear (strongly encouraged!)

Want to cheer them on? Families are welcome to join us at the track! Please just remember to check in at the front office.

TUESDAY IS MICRO NIGHT! Come see the amazing projects your children have created in their Micro classes this year! There will also be an opportunity to purchase some unique kid creations.

RSVP Required: Please RSVP with your child’s teacher or the front office as soon as possible so we can ensure there is enough food for everyone!

Have a lovely evening. We look forward to another fun, energy-filled day tomorrow!
