Dear Eagle families,

It was a fantastic week of Kindergarten Jumpstart and Art Camp! It was so much fun to see so many Eagle students here – about 2/3 of the school – and we are looking forward to more fun with summer enrichment next week.

On Monday, we begin our Robotics week for grades 1-6 and more Kindergarten Jumpstart. Please remember to send your child with a water bottle and make sure they are wearing sunscreen because as long as it isn’t smoky, we will be spending part of the day outside.

If you not yet signed up for your child’s one-on-one meeting with their teacher August 31-Sept 2, you can do so here: https://signup.com/go/ugZjrrH

Have a wonderful weekend!

Dear Eagle families,

We are looking forward to another fun day at Art Summer Enrichment and Kindergarten Jump Start tomorrow! We are also keeping a close eye on the air quality.

When the AQ index is above 150, we will not go outside or have strenuous activity. Even so, if your child has asthma or other breathing difficulties, please let our office know. If they have an inhaler, please make sure there is one in the office for them should they need it.

For everyone, please make sure your child has plenty of water and wears sunscreen just in case the weather improves and we are able to go outside.

See you in the morning!

Dear Eagle Families,

Happy August! It was great to see so many students back at school for our Summer Enrichment program today – and to meet our wonderful new-to-Eagle students. We had a lot of fun!

A few reminders:
*Please follow the car line procedures (see attached flyer). We have a lot of kids on campus, so it’s important for everyone’s safety that we all know and follow the rules.

*At dismissal, students need to let their teachers know when they see their grown-up. The teachers will confirm that it is the child’s grown-up before releasing them with a high-five or elbow bump to go to their grown-up. Please make sure your child follows this rule (even if their first instinct is to run and hug you); this helps us ensure everyone’s safety at the end of our learning day.

*Tomorrow (8/04) is supposed to be smoky and HOT. Please make sure your child has a water bottle with their name on it and is wearing sunscreen. If your child has asthma, please make sure the office knows and that we have an inhaler here in case your child needs it.

*Summer Enrichment and Kindergarten Jumpstart last now through August 14; doors open at 8:20 and school gets out at 12PM.

Finally, our annual required 1-on-1 meetings for all students are just around the corner! Please make sure your child is scheduled to meet with their teacher: https://signup.com/go/ugZjrrH

We look forward to another fun day with a lot of students tomorrow!

Good morning Eagle Families!

It's time for Back-to-School 1-on-1 meetings! Eagle Charter requires that each student meet with their teacher before the start of the school year.

Meetings will take place from August 31 to September 2. This is an opportunity to begin building relationships and for the teacher to assess the student's academic readiness. While students are meeting with their teachers, parents can check in with the office to make sure all paperwork is complete. Each meeting lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Please sign up for a spot and arrive on time. Let the office know if you need an interpreter (503-339-7114, [email protected]). If you need to reschedule after August 25, please call the office.

Please sign up for Back to School 1-on-1 Meetings activities on SignUp.com today! Choose your SignUps for Back to School 1-on-1 Meetings today! No login or passwords needed and receive automated reminders for your spots!

Dear Eagle Families,

Happy Summer! School may be out, but you can still help your child with critical learning skills by making sure they read (or you read together!) at least 20 minutes every day.

Here are some resources that may help encourage reading:

*Salem Public Library’s Summer Reading Program: https://salemoregon.readsquared.com/

*Read to a Pet at the Salem Public Library on July 11, 1:00-2:30PM

*Not sure what to read? July is Disability Pride Month and the Multnomah Library put together a list of books for kids preK-6 grade to learn about this. Many of these titles can also be found in the Salem Public Library system. https://tinyurl.com/5hezvrjw

*You can find book lists for all sorts of topics here https://www.startwithabook.org/summer-reading-learning - and get some hands-on activity ideas, too. PBS also has lists of books based on subjects that might interest kids: https://www.pbs.org/parents/thrive/reading-and-writing

*If you can’t get to a library but you have access to a phone or tablet, you and your child can watch stories together: https://storylineonline.net/ You and your child can also see and hear stories in Spanish: https://www.thespanishexperiment.com/stories or find stories in other languages including Russian here: https://www.thefablecottage.com/ If your child is exposed to multiple languages at home, stories in those languages other than English will help them learn and grow.

Have a great summer full of reading, learning, and fun in the sun!
