Dear Eagle Families,

Happy Friday and happy October! It is going to be a very busy month at Eagle, so get ready!

A few notes:
*There are some important dates coming up this month. Mark your calendars!
10/08 - Bottle Drop & Parent FUNdraising annual raffle begins
10/09 - No School (Statewide Inservice Day)
10/12-16 - Fifth Grade Outdoor School
10/16 & 10/19 - SACK LUNCH DAY (no breakfast or lunch in the cafeteria)
10/20 - School Picture Day
10/23 - Parent FUNdraising Committee annual Chuck E. Cheese gathering and fundraiser
10/24 - Peer Helper outing at Get Air
10/26-30 - Spirit Week (more info will be posted next week)

*We have a lot of after-school clubs and activities that have started or will start soon (such as Soccer, Play Club, OBOB, Beading). As a reminder, Eagle rules apply (be safe, be respectful, be responsible, be kind) and anyone who doesn’t follow the rules will not be able to participate.

*Library announcement: Student contracts are due by Monday (grades 1-5) and Tuesday (K). There are still students in each class that haven't returned them and they can't check out a library book until it's returned. The first checkout day is next week.

*PE announcement: We have Class Captains for grades 1-5! Each one of these students shows up to PE ready to learn, and always being good teammates to their classmates. They will help set up games, demonstrate activities, and most importantly help their teammates in class! Captains are Hannah, Caleb, Nathalie, and Oliver (5), Kenzi, Riley, Oliver, and Lily (4), Julian, Eli, Rosie, and Harper (3), Saige, Christina, Josh, and Artemiy (2), and Christian, Yatzira, Trena, and Grayson (1). Way to go, Eagles!

*October menus are attached. Please make note of the two Sack Lunch Days on Oct. 16 and 19.

*Today was the first OBOB meeting. Students who attended and plan to be on an OBOB team will bring home a folder of information today. If you have any questions about OBOB, please reach out to Mr. Gaboury.

*This Saturday (10/03), the Oregon State Capitol Foundation has a free family event from 10AM-2PM. There’s a pumpkin patch, face painting, music, and more at the Capitol.

Dear Eagle Families,

Happy Friday! It’s hard to believe that the month of September is nearly over. It’s been a busy first month of school that culminated in an assembly and Green Zone activity today. We look forward to many more great months of learning this year!

A few notes:
*Today was our first assembly of the year. We recognized our Peer Helper, Neela, who spoke in front of the School Board this month. This is one of the many tasks that Peer Helpers do as leaders in the school. We also recognized students who received the Proactive Award: Conor & Caleb (5), Julian & Ryan (4), Julian C. & Harper (3), Artemiy & Corinne (2), Carter & Adalee (1), and Vera & Cedric (K). Our Peer Helpers, Emmie, Hannah, and Jaxon, performed a funny skit all about being proactive. Great job, Eagle students!

*Illnesses are spreading now that we’re back together in small classrooms. If your child has cold-like symptoms, they can come to school and wear a mask. If they have a fever of 101 or higher, are vomiting, or have diarrhea, please keep them home.

*Play Club was a huge success on Thursday. It is also full at this time. As a reminder, the office closes at 4PM, so if your child is at Play Club please be sure to pick them up promptly

*Roller Night is on Monday at 3:15, weather- and health-permitting.

*Mark your calendars for some events in October: Picture Day is October 20 and the Parent FUNdraising Committee’s Chuck E. Cheese night is October 23 (see attached flyer for details).

*Fifth grade parents: Outdoor School will be the week of October 12. Students will visit four different parks in Marion County that week and will have science place-based lessons. Information and permission slips were sent home today.

*Our upper grade art electives classes are still collecting recyclables to make papier-mâché projects, so if you have cardboard or newspaper to donate, you can drop it off at the office.

*Northwest Hub is hosting a fall bike drive in October to get more affordable bicycles to young people in the community. See the attached flyer for ways to help. (The flyer is also posted on our office bulletin board.)

*The Eagle School Board is looking for another member to serve as a volunteer board member. If you know someone who is interested, they can contact our board chair, Shannon Priem (spriem @ eaglecharter.org).

*Complaints: The board will not hear complaints concerning individual school personnel. The chair will direct the speaker to follow the written complaint procedure for the consideration and disposition of legitimate complaints involving staff. Anyone failing to comply with the rules of conduct or who causes a disturbance may be asked to leave by the chair, and upon failure to do so becomes a trespasser.

Dear Eagle Families,

Happy Thursday! We are looking forward to seeing your students on TUESDAY (9/08) morning for the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! If your child wants breakfast, cafeteria doors open at 8:05AM. Doors to the school open at 8:20.

Many thanks to our Parent FUNdraising Committee for helping make Back to School Night on Tuesday a great success. The sign was fun, and the bouncy house and ice cream were a big hit!

This year’s Peer Helpers (student leaders in 4th and 5th grade) met with Mrs. Herring today to complete training so that they are ready for the school year. We’re excited to see the great things that they do!

A few notes:
Parents/Caregivers may walk their child to class on the first day; after that, please drop them off in the car line or by the tree. School starts at 8:30, at which time adults need to exit so that teachers can begin their daily routines with students.

Please make sure you’re following the car line procedures (attached) when on campus - we share this campus space with other schools.

The cafeteria makes great breakfast and lunch for our students! Please see the attached menu to see this month’s options.

Mr. L plans to host more Family Roller Nights in September! These roller events will be on Mondays in September immediately following the school day. See the attached flyer for details.

Happy Sunday, Eagle families!

We hope you’re having a great weekend and that you’re nearly ready for the start of another great school year.

This week is full of 1-on-1 meetings between students and their teacher. This is a very important week to set the tone for the school year. If you suddenly need to reschedule or if you don’t remember when your child’s meeting is, please call the office.

Back to School Night is on Tuesday (9/01)! We hope to see everyone there.

The first day of school is September 8. We can hardly wait!

Dear Eagle families,

It was a fantastic week of Kindergarten Jumpstart and Art Camp! It was so much fun to see so many Eagle students here – about 2/3 of the school – and we are looking forward to more fun with summer enrichment next week.

On Monday, we begin our Robotics week for grades 1-6 and more Kindergarten Jumpstart. Please remember to send your child with a water bottle and make sure they are wearing sunscreen because as long as it isn’t smoky, we will be spending part of the day outside.

Dear Eagle families,

We are looking forward to another fun day at Art Summer Enrichment and Kindergarten Jump Start tomorrow! We are also keeping a close eye on the air quality.

When the AQ index is above 150, we will not go outside or have strenuous activity. Even so, if your child has asthma or other breathing difficulties, please let our office know. If they have an inhaler, please make sure there is one in the office for them should they need it.

For everyone, please make sure your child has plenty of water and wears sunscreen just in case the weather improves and we are able to go outside.

Dear Eagle Families,

Happy August! It was great to see so many students back at school for our Summer Enrichment program today – and to meet our wonderful new-to-Eagle students. We had a lot of fun!

A few reminders:
*Please follow the car line procedures (see attached flyer). We have a lot of kids on campus, so it’s important for everyone’s safety that we all know and follow the rules.

*At dismissal, students need to let their teachers know when they see their grown-up. The teachers will confirm that it is the child’s grown-up before releasing them with a high-five or elbow bump to go to their grown-up. Please make sure your child follows this rule (even if their first instinct is to run and hug you); this helps us ensure everyone’s safety at the end of our learning day.

*Tomorrow (8/04) is supposed to be smoky and HOT. Please make sure your child has a water bottle with their name on it and is wearing sunscreen. If your child has asthma, please make sure the office knows and that we have an inhaler here in case your child needs it.

*Summer Enrichment and Kindergarten Jumpstart last now through August 14; doors open at 8:20 and school gets out at 12PM.

Good morning Eagle Families!

It's time for Back-to-School 1-on-1 meetings! Eagle Charter requires that each student meet with their teacher before the start of the school year.

Meetings will take place from August 31 to September 2. This is an opportunity to begin building relationships and for the teacher to assess the student's academic readiness. While students are meeting with their teachers, parents can check in with the office to make sure all paperwork is complete. Each meeting lasts approximately 30 minutes.
