We’ve all had that one student—the one who works so hard but just can’t seem to stay focused during traditional reading lessons.

I had a student recently who was really struggling with decoding and paying attention. During center time, I set him up with my "Context Clues are Like Sharks" interactive PowerPoint. I wasn't sure if it would "click," but the animations and the shark theme caught his eye immediately.

Why read to your child?
There are so many reasons!
📚Improves vocabulary and language skills: Children who are read to regularly develop a larger vocabulary and better language skills. They also learn how to listen attentively and how to follow directions.
📚Improves listening and reading comprehension: When children are read to they are able to hear how words are used in context which helps them better understand the words they read
📚Bonding time: Reading to children is a great way to bond with them and to create a special time just for them. It helps them feel loved and secure.
📚Reduces stress and anxiety: Children today have more anxiety than ever. Reading helps children relax and fall asleep more easily.
📚Learn to love reading: When children are read to, they learn to love reading and to associate books with positive experiences. This can help them to develop a lifelong love of learning and reading.
These are just a few of the many benefits of reading to your child every night. If you are not already doing so, I encourage you to start reading your child tonight. It is a simple way to make a big difference in their life and in their education. 🙌 tips
