For more than 65 years, Sister Joan Carberry, OSF, has faithfully served in Catholic education, shaping generations of students through her leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the faith. Her recent recognition with the 2026 Lifetime Commitment to Catholic Education Award is a moment of great pride for our diocesan community.
For the past 25 years at St. Paul Catholic School in St. Petersburg, she has been a cornerstone of Catholic education in our Diocese—forming students not only academically, but spiritually, and strengthening the Franciscan charism that continues to define our schools. Her lifelong “yes” to God reflects the heart of our mission across the Diocese of Saint Petersburg.

Days 3 & 4 of the 8th Grade Washington DC trip were packed full of even more great sites.
Students and chaperones spent a morning at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, toured the White House and the US Capitol Building, attended Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Capitol Hill, explored more museums and monuments along the National Mall, and even celebrated on a dinner dance cruise along the Potomac River! Our group has returned to Tampa Bay with many great memories that will last a lifetime! A huge thank you to the parents and chaperones who were able to make this experience possible for our students.
