Please congratulate our amazing Trojan historians when they return tomorrow! 🎉📚

Six of our students—recognized for having some of the top National History Day projects in Pinellas County—represented John Hopkins Middle School at Florida History Day, the state competition held in Tallahassee. This marks the first time ever that Hopkins has participated at the state level!

They joined 30 other students from across Pinellas County to present their projects to judges from around the state. We are so incredibly proud of our Trojan Historians and the way they represented 🏆✨

Our Journalism 3 and 2 reporting teams recently had an incredible opportunity to report on the revived Tampa Bay Rays Tropicana Field!

Students toured the facility, explored behind the scenes, and learned about the extensive efforts it took to bring the stadium back to life following Hurricane Milton in 2024. They even had the chance to visit and pet the live rays, making the experience even more memorable! It was a valuable hands-on opportunity that gave our young journalists a closer look at sports reporting, resilience, and the teamwork behind a major community landmark.

A special thank you to Tampa Bay Rays for hosting our students and to Ms. Woodard for coordinating this unforgettable trip!

What a day to remember! 🎉 This past Saturday, John Hopkins Middle School proudly hosted our 2nd Annual Spring Fling — and it was an incredible success!

Open to the community, Spring Fling was a wonderful opportunity to bring together our students, families, staff, and neighbors for an afternoon full of fun, connection, and school spirit. Guests enjoyed live performances from our talented performing arts magnet students, exciting games and activities, and even a ball toss where some brave teachers volunteered to get soaked!

One of the biggest highlights of the day was the highly anticipated Art Battle, presented by our Visual Arts Department. Five teams of ten talented local muralists — plus a special student journalism team — competed in a live mural-making competition. Even better, these amazing murals will soon be displayed around our campus for all to enjoy!

A huge thank you to our incredible PTSA for coordinating and hosting this outstanding community event. We also want to thank all of our wonderful vendors and community partners for joining us and sharing their businesses, products, and support with our school family.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Spring Fling such a special day! 💙💛

Space Exploration 🚀✨

Our 8th graders have taken their learning to new heights! As part of their Space Exploration Unit, students created NASA Spin-Off tri-fold boards—highlighting innovative technologies originally developed for space that we now use here on Earth.

With all the excitement surrounding Artemis II’s mission around the Moon, these free-choice research projects showcase creativity, curiosity, and real-world connections.

Even from afar, we hope this gives you a glimpse into the out-of-this-world learning happening here at JHMS! 🌍🌕
