Apogee St Pete is an alternative to the traditional school system for 5-12 year olds that fosters a self-driven passion for learning.

We prepare kids for life, not the next test or grade.

Morning at with the Apogee tribe a few weeks back 🐰🐮🐷

The bunnies were a hit, “Mr. DK” told us how he built the place from the ground up, and the kids didn’t want to leave when it was time to go.

Excited for more “field trip Fridays” this summer and next year 🗺️

A big thank you to all the families that joined us on Year 1 of this journey 🙏

Very much just getting started..

Enjoy the first week of summer; we’ll be hosting a few events until we start back up in August - stay tuned!

I always remember the last day of school as I was bubbling with excitement to get into summer (and away from school) 😎

It was affirmation that we’re doing something right when the students at Apogee were disappointed the year was ending..

We had a blast today going out in style with “Mr. Mark the Magician” (and ballon artist!) and burying our ‘launch year time capsule’.

A few months of planning & preparation and we’ll be back at it next year 🫡

In the meantime, scroll to the end to see the cutest future Apogee student 😂

I don’t do enough posting about our project-based learning, but the older students (and Coach Nick) had a blast making some “PVC Aqueducts” last week while learning along the way!

STEM lesson (gravity + water flow): achieved ✅
Teamwork lesson: some natural ups and downs🤷
Hands-on learning at its finest 💪

Topped off with a race at the end to see who could fill up the container first 🏆

🎻 The came in for an “instrument petting zoo” and the kids got to actually hold and play real instruments.

Violins, drums, keyboards - you name it.
Some natural prodigies in the room. Some… future audience members, all had fun :)

The perfect way to wrap up our career exploration unit. Because how else are you supposed to know if you want to be a musician unless you actually get to make some sound?

10/10 would let them screech on a violin again. 🎺🥁🎷

Real animals, a little dirt and a lot of fun.

Friday 5/15 at DK Farms, 10:30 AM. We’re spending the morning petting goats, chasing ducks, and reminding everyone that the best classrooms don’t always have walls.

Open to all families; $6/person if you’re not currently enrolled at Apogee. Bring your kids, bring a friend, and wear your favorite farm gear.

📍 1750 Lake Ave SE, Largo

See you there. 🐐🐤🐷

DM us if you plan to attend and haven’t signed up already ✌️

It started with a few kids messing around with paper and string before the day even officially began.

Within an hour, the whole class was building kites.

This wasn’t on the lesson plan, but our coaches saw the energy and ran with it.
We talked about why kites fly. Why some designs work and others nosedive into the ground, might’ve even incorporated a little area + perimeter lesson from the kite itself 🤷 (gotta love those perfect rectangles)

This is what we mean when we say “teach kids to love learning”. Most learning doesn’t come from a worksheet. More often, it comes from a kid with an idea and adults who are paying attention.

The best educators aren’t the ones with the most rigid schedules, but the ones flexible enough to follow curiosity when it shows up.
