🎤Only a few weeks into the school year and our kids are already prepping for their first big public speaking opportunity! 🎤

For years, we have partnered with Jane Goodall's Roots and Shoots program and next week, a group of our middle schoolers will be speaking at the Educator's Summit in Tampa.

Middle schoolers. In front of a group of about 60 educators. Because they are confident and empowered. With the necessary environmental knowledge and story-telling skills.

We are so excited to watch them shine up there.

Sometimes our most invaluable learning resource is each other.

When our students collaborate and learn together across age groups, there is no stopping them! Their creativity and problem-solving skills are on full display, and we love to see it.

❤️ One more reflection from last year before we settle in for the fun of the 2026-27 school year.

As another school year came to a close, we found ourselves celebrating and saying see you soon all at once.

Last year, we sent off a remarkable group of 8th graders as they begin their high school journeys.

Each are heading to different schools. A reflection of something we deeply value at Indi-ED. We aren't a feeder school. Instead, we help students discover who they are, what they care about, and what they're capable of, so they can confidently choose the path that's right for them.

We already miss them dearly, but we couldn't be more excited to watch how they continue to lead their lives and what our next generation of student leaders will accomplish.

Once a part of the fam, always a part of the fam. ❤️

🏆 Another end of year accomplishment:

One of our middle schoolers earned a spot in the Top 14 in our region for the National Civics Bee, hosted at USFSP.

It was an optional challenge that gives students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of civics, government, and what it means to be an engaged citizen.

Beyond school hours, she prepared by spending hours every day studying and pushing herself to be ready.

She did an incredible job, but what makes us even more proud is her determination to go for it and her competitive spirit.

She was motivated to come back even stronger to see if she can do even better next year. 💪

The last week of school, some of our students took a behind-the-scenes tour of the WEDU/PBS studio, where they learned about the history and importance of public broadcasting.

They explored familiar favorites like Sesame Street, saw how media production comes to life, and even got hands-on experience using studio cameras and testing out the green screen.

It was a wonderful real-world look at storytelling, technology, and communication in action.

With our students returning next week, we thought it'd be fun to share a few highlights from the end of last year before we dive into all of the action that teachers have planned for 2026-27.

Ending the 2025-26 school year with our inaugural Standout Student Leadership Competition was a perfect bookend to putting all that we teach our kids into practice.

All of the participants proved that when young people are given the opportunity to practice leadership in a supportive environment, remarkable things happen.

Students strengthened real-world skills like networking, communicating under pressure, and professional presence. They reported increased confidence in every skill measured and discovered that leadership is something you can improve by practicing.

Mentors were equally impressed. They described students as poised and courageous, noting visible growth throughout the day as nervous participants became confident communicators. One mentor shared that the experience gave them "faith and hope for the future," while others remarked that students were practicing skills many adults still struggle to master.

With overwhelming support from all involved, we're already looking forward to making a bigger impact with the Standout this year. Tentatively mark your calendar for April 17th, 2027. We hope to see you there!

📚 Experiential learning isn’t a catch phrase here and doesn’t only happen at the end of the year as a reward.
