This week, the FIO education team participated in the last classroom visit at Parrish Community High School for the Tampa Bay Estuary Program's mini grant "Source to Sea." Students used the information they learned from their journey on the RV Hogarth and classroom visits over the last several months to develop a messaging campaign to highlight human connection with, and impacts on, our watershed. Through this grant, students were able to gain first-hand experience with watershed science, analyze and interpret data, learn about careers surrounding the watershed, and put knowledge to action by communicating what they have learned to have an impact in their community. We hope to use this project and the associated developed resources as a starting point, expanding our impact and student reach in future years.
