Our scholars are back, and our campus is buzzing with excitement, energy, and endless possibilities!

Although our students officially began the school year during our 11th Month Summer Session in June, the start of the fall semester brings our entire Academy Prep family back together. The excitement was evident from the moment students arrived on campus, with classrooms filled with eager minds, warm welcomes, and a shared enthusiasm for the year ahead. Whether they are returning scholars or joining us for the first time, our students are ready to learn, grow, and make the most of every opportunity.

At Academy Prep, every new school year is a chance to inspire a lifelong love of learning, foster personal growth, and empower future leaders.

ALUMNI NEWS! Thank you to Academy Prep alumnus and newly elected trustee, Jason Warner, and CED St. Petersburg!

As Academy Prep welcomed scholars for the 2026-2027 school year, one of our own returned to once again give back and make a difference. For the second consecutive year, Jason Warner, Academy Prep Class of 2010, partnered with his employer, CED St. Petersburg, to provide school supplies for every scholar, helping ensure they began the year ready to learn and succeed.

This year’s visit was especially meaningful as Jason was recently elected to become the first graduate to serve on the Academy Prep Center of St. Petersburg Board of Trustees, marking a historic milestone and reflecting the lasting impact of our mission. Jason’s journey is a powerful reminder that Academy Prep is about more than preparing students for high school and college. It is about developing future leaders who return to strengthen their communities and inspire the generations that follow.

THANK YOU! Dynasty Financial Partners!

We're incredibly grateful to the outstanding Summer Analysts from Dynasty Financial Partners for spending time volunteering at Academy Prep!

On a hot and humid Florida day, this incredible group rolled up their sleeves to deep clean nearly 150 student lockers, helping ensure our scholars returned this week to a fresh, welcoming environment for the new school year.

What stood out most wasn't just the work they accomplished, but the spirit they brought with them. They arrived ready to work, tackled every task with smiles on their faces, and somehow made deep cleaning lockers look like a team-building event. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and servant leadership made a meaningful impact on our campus and brought a wonderful energy to the day!

We are deeply grateful to Dynasty Financial Partners for their continued partnership with Academy Prep. Year after year, they invest in our scholars and our mission in so many meaningful ways, and we are proud to count them among our valued community partners.

Academy Prep’s Graduate Reunion 2026!

Once a year, a very special reunion takes place on the Academy Prep campus, bringing together nearly 30 years of middle school graduates of all ages to reminisce about their shared experiences at Academy Prep. This joyful day is filled with love, laughter, and memories, and it holds profound meaning for our graduates as they reflect on how their lives have been transformed by attending this unique middle school.

This year’s reunion was a full house, welcoming alumni from our founding years to our most recent graduates from the Class of 2026. It was heartwarming to witness the friendship bonds between recent graduates as they shared stories of summer break, while earlier alumni, faculty, and staff reunited and reflected on the lasting impact Academy Prep has had on their lives.

To make the occasion even more special, we celebrated our Class of 2022 with thoughtful gifts as they prepare to embark on their journeys to college and technical school this month. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things they achieve in the future.

This memorable day was full of fun, laughter, and the overwhelming sentiment that Academy Prep is more than a school, we are a family, and we are grateful to be the GREATEST!

THANK YOU! Tampa Bay Rays and the Science of Baseball!

During Academy Prep’s 11th Month Summer Session, 7th grade scholars from our St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Lakeland campuses once again had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Science of Baseball enrichment program with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Now in its fifth year, the program has provided Academy Prep scholars with more than 5,000 hours of STEAM-based instruction, blending academics with the excitement of professional sports.

Scholars explored the scientific principles behind the game, including statistics, motion, and engineering, while discovering how classroom learning connects to real-world careers in the sports industry. The experience concluded with an exciting field trip to Tropicana Field for a Career Day panel, lunch at the ballpark, and great seats for the afternoon game.

These hands-on learning opportunities inspire our scholars to dream big, explore future career paths, and see firsthand how education opens doors to opportunity.

We are deeply grateful to the Rays Baseball Foundation, which annually awards scholarships to all three Academy Prep campuses. Over the past 15 years, the Rays have invested more than $2 million in scholarships, helping make an Academy Prep education possible for hundreds of deserving scholars.

CAMPUS LIFE! Academy Prep’s 11th Month Summer Session!

While other students were spending their first few weeks of summer break playing basketball, swimming, and going to camp, Academy Prep scholars returned to the classroom in June for our annual 11th Month Summer Session, which is also the official start to the Academy Prep 2026-2027 school year.

We were excited to meet our brand new 5th and 6th graders as they begin their Academy Prep journeys, and thrilled to welcome back our returning scholars who continued to work hard during this extended learning period maintaining a high standard of academics, building leadership skills, and of course having some SUMMER FUN!

The Academy Prep family joins our community in mourning the passing of Brian West.

As Publix’s longtime Community Relations Manager, Brian’s dedication and generosity touched countless lives across our region. A tireless advocate for philanthropy, his unwavering commitment to strengthening communities and expanding opportunities for young people leaves a legacy that will be felt for generations.

Through Brian’s leadership, Publix became an instrumental partner in Academy Prep’s mission, providing steadfast support to our campuses in Lakeland, Tampa, and St. Petersburg, helping open doors of opportunity for deserving students and families across Central Florida. We are deeply grateful for the lasting impact he had on our organization and on the many nonprofits fortunate enough to benefit from his vision and compassion.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Brian’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Publix family during this difficult time.

May his memory continue to inspire acts of kindness, service, and generosity throughout our community.

Today, we honor the significance of this historic day by reflecting on our nation’s past, celebrating the rich contributions of the Black community, and reaffirming our commitment to education, opportunity, and a brighter future for all.
