Another great day in the DR!
Volleyball camp & Mercy Workshop in the morning.
In the afternoon we were introduced and helped a ministry called the Coconut Project which takes the shells of coconuts and turns them into sellable items that supports Life House, a foster home for girls.
Finished the day with some kickball and s’mores.

NCS Teacher, Lisa Jones, paid a surprise visit to our students serving in Detroit. Her report - I got to spend the morning with the NCS Detroit Love team. I got there in time to participate with the group’s discussion of their devotional group discussions, then went with Laurie Kinsella’s group to a city mission that feeds about 80 homeless men each meal. We made chef’s salads and helped prep for their supper. I had to leave after lunch to get home before some nasty weather came through. The Detroit Love mission trip is awesome! Go if you can!

Tuesday was a wonderful day of ministry for the Family DR Team. In the morning NCS Volleyball Coach Sam Cibrone led our team as we facilitated a volleyball camp for middle school students at Las Palmas Christian School. After lunch our team enjoyed making jewelry with the women of Mercy Workshop. We wrapped the day up by visiting a small village surrounded by sugarcane farms. There our team hosted a small chapel, distributed food to families in the village, and hosted a kickball game for the kids.

On Monday our Family DR Team enjoyed a day of history and cultural immersion. The morning was spent visiting the Santo Domingo Colonial Zone, and the afternoon was spent exploring the neighborhoods of San Pedro de Macoris. Our team learned a lot about the history of the DR, as well as the rich culture that makes the people of the DR so warm and friendly.

The inaugural NCS/NBC Family Dominican Republic Missions Trip is off to an amazing start. On Sunday our team was able to spend time in 2 different churches including one outside the city in a sugarcane village. We were so proud of our children as they did a wonderful job sharing Scripture, playing games with the children, and even sharing testimonies. Our evening was spent fellowshipping with one another and chasing tarantulas!
