As part of our Black History Month celebrations, we invited architect and urban planner Sarah-Jane Vatelot to talk to St. Petersburg College and St. Petersburg Collegiate High Schools students about the history of people of color living in St. Petersburg's historic Gaslight District.
It was an enlightening conversation, and we're grateful to Ms. Vatelot for sharing her professional knowledge with our students.

All St. Petersburg College campuses and offices will be open for normal operations tomorrow - Monday, Sept. 26. SPC will be closed and classes will be canceled Tuesday, Sept. 27, and Wednesday, Sept. 28 due to preparation for, and potential impacts from, Tropical Storm Ian.
Updates regarding Thursday and Friday will be dependent on any impacts to our region and be made in the coming days. Updates will be made by email and will also be posted on the college’s social media accounts, the college website and the college Emergency Preparedness site.

Happy 95th anniversary, St. Petersburg College! SPC opened its doors as St. Petersburg Junior College (SPCJC) on this day in 1927, becoming Florida's first two-year institution of higher learning.
