They said women belonged in the kitchen…
So I got cookin’. 🤪
Almost three years ago, Little Sunshine Pediatric Therapy was just an idea fueled by passion for the job, my family, and a belief that children deserve care that honors who they are.
Since then, it’s grown into something I’m incredibly proud of—servicing families across our community, building an amazing team, collaborating with other professionals/others within the community, and creating a practice grounded in what I believe is most important.
There have been long days, hard decisions, and definitely times where I questioned everything. But there have also been times I would have never ever imagined, families who placed complete trust in us with their children, and so much learning and growth —both professionally and in my personal life..
This business isn’t just something I built. It’s something I’ve poured my heart into and I am incredibly proud of. 💛☀️
Little Sunshine Pediatric Therapy LLC
A pediatric, community based therapy company that provides skilled speech and language therapy and occupational therapy.
10 little things I do because I refuse to force children to fit into a mold that wasn’t made for them. 💛
1. I follow their lead during play and don’t try to change the way they’re playing.
2. I honor every form of communication—including AAC, words, gestures, scripts, facial expressions, and silence.
3. I celebrate progress that looks different for every child.
4. I support regulation before expecting engagement.
5. I see all behavior as communication.
6. I adapt the environment to the child—not the child to the environment.
7. I respect that comfort and trust come before performance.
8. I presume competence before making assumptions.
9. I remind myself that my job is not to reshape a child—but to help them be understood.
10. I give children opportunities to make choices and advocate for themselves.
I could be having the worst day, but the second I walk into a preschool classroom (or some of my clients’ homes 🤪)— I get treated like I’m a rockstar, and it instantly brightens my day. Who else gets that feeling?! ☀️

To all of our amazing clients and families — we hope you have the best summer filled with rest, play, sunshine, and special memories together.
This school year was a tough one for so many children and families. New routines, transitions, expectations, and challenges can take a lot out of our kids (and parents too). Summer is such an important time to slow down, reconnect, regulate, and simply enjoy being together.
And a reminder: Give your kids a break and let them enjoy their summer! More therapy doesn’t mean faster progress. Kids need time to relax too. 💛

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
As we spend time with family and loved ones, we are especially grateful for the freedoms we have because of those who served. ❤️🤍💙

Children are still learning how to regulate, communicate, transition, cope with change, and meet expectations in environments that can sometimes feel overwhelming.
This school year was a hard one for so many of the children and families I work with—especially those adjusting to new schools, new routines, and new demands. And while behaviors are often viewed as “noncompliance” or “acting out,” they’re usually communication. They’re signs that a child needs more support, not more pressure.
Children are not little adults. Their brains are still developing. Instead of holding them accountable for skills they’re still learning, we need to place our focus on supporting, teaching, co-regulating, and understanding them through challenging times.

Please remember that kindness goes beyond words. It’s about how we see, support, and celebrate others.
Every child’s mind works in its own beautiful way. All play is valid. Every way of communicating is valid. Some communicate with words, some with gestures, sounds, or AAC and all deserve to be met with patience, respect, and love.
When we choose to be kind to everyone regardless of beautiful differences, we create a world where every child feels valued for exactly who they are. 💛
