Today I ran to this old photo of a class that I taught in Petro Sota, Fier Albania. What a wonderful feeling to remember all of the students of this class of 1996. Thank you all of you for being who you were and trying your best on everything. We have had great moments together and I miss all of them and anyone of you. Today is Teacher’s Day in Albania. It is really a special Day. We all celebrate 🎉 it with teachers and students too. I went out with my daughter just to remember 7March again. The date represents the day when the first school opened the doors for children in Albania back in 1887. Today I wanted to congratulate my colleagues and all my students that I have taught throughout my years of teaching in Fier, Albania. 👪📚🎉🌈🌎

When we first arrived in Saint Petersburg, my daughters were going to 7th and 1st grades. Eva at first was excellent at Math and she quickly advanced into honor classes. Even though I could tell that she was losing a lot of her knowledges. It was clear to me that the system and methods of teaching were so different from what we applied back in Albania. I didn't like the fact that kids don't remember some of the main concepts when they are done with school. in Albania everyone knew how to add or subtract, the multiplication table, the Pythagorean theorem or the surface of a square or a circle😘. But here they don't know a thing after a while. The programs are better and the teachers are so nice taken care of everything but the results should be better. When a teacher asked me, which country had the better education, keeping in my mind this point of view I told her mine. She was so offended, didn't even ask why i thought so! But there are so many points of views to analyze a whole system of education that you can't answer in just one question. I believe that some things have to change. For example after a hard work of kids learning the multiplication table, you can't just give them the calculators. That will kill the memory because they don't have the need to use it anymore. The brain needs exercise and the repeating of actions is a way to memorize. Kids are amazing , they just need the right tools and directions to learn. Their brain has no borders.🌎👬📕
