I’m writing this to express my gratitude, and complete satisfaction, for and with Vision St. Charles County Leadership. I really didn’t know what to expect when I applied. It was a safe bet that it would be a great experience. I also thought that like most other opportunities, the reward would be directly linked to what I could contribute to the experience. I found both of those things to be absolutely true. What amazed me about my “Vision” experience was how quickly strong robust relationships were formed among my classmates and myself. I believe this to be the core of the “Vision” magic. As a result of my relationships forged over the class year, I closed over $45,000.00 worth of business from Referrals from my classmates. And another $25,000.00 closed business from Referrals from Alumni.

I believe “Vision” is a valuable tool in my everyday marketing. With utmost satisfaction, and no regrets, I am a proud Vision St. Charles County alumni!

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the passing of Scott Shipman - Class of 2006.

All of St. Charles is mourning the death of Scott Shipman, who served as the County’s elected assessor from 2002 to 2023. He passed away May 22 after a long struggle with cancer. He was 64. The family says no service is planned, but a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Shipman started in the Assessor’s office as a field appraiser in the early 1980s, and worked his way up to appraisal manager, supervising a team of two dozen people. Winning election to the office of Assessor in 2002, he served for 21 years in charge of a team that assessed both real and personal property.

Coworkers remember Shipman was always willing to answer questions from the public. He would tell his staff that if the public can’t get what they need, to have them call him. Around the office Shipman was well-liked for recognizing birthdays and encouraging staffers to bring in their crock pots for the annual chili cookoff or other morale-boosting events.

After he left his job as St. Charles County Assessor, Shipman worked for a local bank as a loan collateral manager. In April of this year, we was elected to serve on the St. Charles City Council to represent Ward 4 residents.

We offer our deepest condolences to the Shipman family and all who are affected by his passing.

I was able to catch-up with Stephanie Moore and Kristin Chesnut this past week to get them their Graduation Frames. They weren't able to join us for the Graduation Celebration but their contribution to the Class of 2026 didn't go unnoticed!

Oh, what a night! Congratulations to our newest alumni and to the Class of 2026. We had an amazing year together and we are so excited to see how each of you will continue to contribute to the fabric of St. Charles County!

Even with our Graduation Celebration later this week, your Board of Directors is gearing up for our next Best Class Ever and preparing for the Class of 2027!

We’re now soliciting project ideas for our Leadership Class to consider for their community service projects at our Leadership Retreat in early August.

Each year, our class is divided into five project teams, and each group partners with a local nonprofit organization on a meaningful, hands-on initiative that can make a lasting impact.

If you know of an organization that could use a helping hand - with strategic planning, event organization, marketing, volunteer coordination, or another key project - we’d love to hear from you.
