We broke out the scooters for the first time today! Not only are they so fun to speed around on, but they also build core strength through balance and movement of stomach and back muscles. They are also great for strengthening shoulders, arms, and hand muscles!

We painted these self portraits in the style of Andy Warhol! It was very silly to use such bright colors on our face! We tried to use a different color for each part of our face. This activity encouraged our fine motor skills and helped us recall the names and placement of our facial features!

JesusTime this week was about Adam and Eve, the first two people of Creation! They lived in a beautiful garden with God who had only one rule for them: do not eat from the tree in the middle. One day while walking, Eve heard a voice coming from that tree. A snake wanted her to disobey God and eat the fruit from the tree! Eve thought the fruit looked good so she ate some and gave some to Adam. They knew they’d done wrong. God told them they could not live in the garden anymore, but one day He would send someone to save them from their sins so they could live with Him again in heaven. That person was Jesus! We know that we will go to heaven too because Jesus saved us from our sins!

This week we met our new friend Rosita! She helped us learn a new song about how our body should look when we’re listening. The song tells us how our eyes should be watching the teacher, our ears should be listening to the teacher’s voice, our voice should be quiet (off), and our body should be calm. The tune is “Are You Sleeping?”, the same as our Rub and Scrub song!

Pastor James led our very first Chapel of the year this week! Every week, we walk up to the Lord’s house to worship Him there. We start with the invocation, sing songs of praise and thanksgiving, and follow a liturgy where the leader says a line and we say a different line back to him. We also talk about our Bible story for the week. This week was Creation so Pastor James helped reminds us of what God made on each day!

One of the decorations we have hanging on our wall all year is a child-painted Jesus! Mrs. Hoehner traces Him out and lets each child paint certain areas of His hair, body, or clothes. We hang Him up with pictures of each student that they colored to remind us that Jesus loves the children and He loves us and is always with us!

This week we’ve been working on our handwashing skills! We used a special lotion and purple light to show us all the germs on our hands. We then practiced the hand washing steps including our Scrub and Rub song! When our hands were dry, we checked them again with the purple light to see that we washed all of our germs away!
