One last Friday centertime! We played with blocks and legos, the lemonade stand sensory bin, read books with Mrs. Hoehner, built a house of Lincoln Logs!

Pictures from our Water Play Days! We had a blast playing outside in our swimsuits! The bounce house turned into a water slide that nearly everyone took a turn on and we had pools to splash in. There were water guns, spray bottles, and sponges for spraying water! We even have blocks to build with in the water! Finally, there was a popsicle snack to complete the day.

Today we released the last four butterflies! The problem was they didn’t want to fly away. Mrs. Hoehner coaxed them out of the net and onto her hand, but they were determined to stick around! We ended up placing them on the roses next to us so they could enjoy some nectar from the flowers.

Mr. Jonathan from the library came to read to us one last time this year! He (and Miss Emma yesterday) read us many books all containing dinosaurs! The theme matches the library’s summer reading program! If you sign up, reading books can earn you free books, a day pass for The Magic House, and more!

After witnessing almost the whole life cycle of a butterfly, we finally got to release half of our classroom butterflies! Mrs. Hoehner gently coaxed them out of their net and we watched them fly away. One landed on Mrs. Hoehner’s hand so we got to see it very closely. Others fly away right away so we chased after them until they were gone!

Today Mrs. LaFaver read to us one last time this year. She read another Trolls story and “Another Monster At The End Of This Book” featuring Elmo and Grover. Mrs. LaFaver was so nice, she even brought us cookies to celebrate her last VIP Reader day. Thank You Mrs. LaFaver!

When it’s time for the Estimation Jar, we beginning by showing off the items inside the jar. We think about how much space the items take up and if they are big or little things. Usually the more space they take up the higher the number of items and the opposite is usually true too. We decide if we think the number is large (towards the right side of the number line), small (towards the left side), or medium (in the middle of the line). Then we go around the circle telling our initials and our estimation. Once everyone has a turn, we count out the objects and write the number on the board. Finally we take a look at our estimations to see who was the closest to the correct number!
