We're pleased to announce that the second annual Gustavus Adolphus College Veterans Day Ceremony will be held in Alumni Hall on Sunday, 11 November 2012, at 7:00 p.m.
This year's guest speaker will be Lieutenant General (USMC, Retired) John W. "Jack" Bergman. Mr. Bergman is the highest-ranking Gustavus alumnus of all time, retiring as the Commanding General, Marine Forces Reserve and Commanding General, Marine Forces North.
We hope to see you all at this year's Veterans Day Ceremony. Please contact R. Eiler Henrickson with any questions. He may be reached at [email protected].

Stop by the lower floor of the Jackson Campus Center and see Eiler Henrickson between 3:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, or between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Friday, to pick up your items.

"The consternation over the USAF's dumping of troops' remains into landfills is unnecessary. While I empathize with the families of the fallen, I find their appeals for the "undignified" actions unworthy of my time.
These families signed away their rights to know what happened in the event of a service member's death, so they have no right to complain about not being informed.
According to the article, the military was fully authorized to appropriately dispose of any remains. It chose to dump the ashes in a nearby landfill.
A better solution would be to use the ashes as fertilizer. What could be more dignified than giving yourself back to the Earth which provided you with life?
