Dear Club members, it is with a heavy heart to tell you that I am stepping down as President of the Hospitality Club. With Dr. Meyers passing I do not have the will and drive to continue. I will be taking most all my classes online but will be on campus every now and then. Thank you so much for all your support as President! All of you should be proud of yourselves as club members! I had a great time but I want to give the opportunity to lead our club to someone else. ***If anyone is interested in continuing my success with this club and being part of student government please contact Dawn in the student Life room and she will guide you in your adventure! :)

Take Care,
Steve Bird

Hello Club members, I wanted to give you all an update on the passing of Dr. Meyer. The school is in the process of setting up a scolarship in his honor and a memorial dinner in early September will be organized so we may all get together to honor Dr.Meyer. Below is an email that Dr.Meyer's son Tim sent to our Provost and a few others to pass along so that we may all gain a little insite to the wonderful teacher/mentor that was so beloved and respected!

I Really want to thank you, the College, Staff and Dad's Colleges for for the outpouring of support and words of encouragement, memories, and anticdotes about Dad.

Please share this with the College email as I would like to thank everyone that is on your server who individually emailed me over the last week, plus there are a few things that I would like to say to everyone....

The Reason I did not plan a service here is that all of our Family are in Wisconsin and Michigan.. we moved around A-LOT.... SO he had friends and colleges all over the country and several other countries as well...He worked with more than a few countries.... Carribean, Central/ South American/and/Aisan Governments on how to develop travel and tourism/hotel & hospitality in their countries (Yah Hoo man I have some really fond memories of those trips)... I think he was probably most Proud of his Fulbright Scholorship to Thialand..... WOW what a wonderful experience THAT WAS for both of US...too bad they did not renue my visa after 3 months I was an adult by then (1991) I had to return to America but he stayed for another sevreral months... he completley fell in love with Thialand and Almost took a permenent position there...The good news (For me) was he stopped in Hawaii on his way back and got a job there... (who dosent want to live in Hawaii ) he had hopes of Retiring in Thialand or Central America in a few years. (Hawaii is great but Wayyy too expensive)

Dad had some really innovative ideas over the years he had a group of students at Purdue University (1980's) that were called The S.W.A.T. Team (Students with Advanced Target Marketing) they would go into a town, pound the pavement and do Cold Calls with ..a list of questions for local busineses to figure out what their Target Customer should be... ( I will never know how he did it but He Convinced a Local RV Dealer to Loan him... free of charge.. with only their Dealership Name the side of the RV) a Class A Motorhome to run around the Mid-West with a load of college students in tow.) That SO Totally would not happen today!!! He Took that Idea with him to Georgia State in Atlanta and worked with The Convention Bureau of Atlanta, Eastern Airlines, Delta Airlines and Coca Cola just too name a few...(I Got a really Choice job with the VP of Marketing during the Coke Cola 100th Anniversary Celebration in 1986 I still have a packet of neat things from that )

He was Awarded the Presidential Metal For Excellence in Teaching 3 times in the 80's and 90's.....

I cannot tell you how proud I Am to Be His Son... Even with my ADD... he tried over the years to get me to EARN a College Degree... I just could not do it. My Attention span is that of a humming bird... flitting from one thing to the next... My grammer and spelling is atrocious and somehow in the move to a freinds house i have managed to disable the spell check on my computer...go figure... I am sure that there are several mis-spellings and grammatical errors in this email.

One of my most Cherished Memories for me is him Reading to me as a small child maybe 5 or 6 years old...It was "The Call of the Wild" and I was Enthralled.... he started reading the story to try to get me to go to sleep but I got so involved in the story I could Not Fall Asleep as I Wanted to know what happened next... So MY ABSOLUTE LOVE OF READING goes back to that moment in time. You would Think that this would have helped me understand grammer better.... I am a Verausious reader when it comes to fantasy or Fiction, mytery or even romance...but a Text book may as well be written in a foriegn language I just cannot comprehend it...

I will always think of him when ever I read a good book because he had introduced me to that world.

I really cannot think of another thing to say other than thank you ALL for the love and support I have recieved..

Most Humbly,

Tim Meyer

Sorry if this sounds disjointed but my mind is all over the place these days.... Things said or heard bring up memories and I am off on another journey thru time and space...
