Water Lily Montessori - A Wildflower School

Big announcement!!! We have new life in our tank. Dan the Fish Man has so kindly been helping us with our little ecosystem. We now have a fire shrimp, brittle starfish, bicolor angelfish, hermit crab, and some mushroom coral.

Stereognostic work requires a lot of trust from the child of the adult. Looks like she’s got that trust from him!

From the oldest children to the youngest, everyone is involved in the care of the classroom and the care of ourselves, from polishing plant leaves and folding laundry to washing hands. It truly becomes the children’s house.

A new child just joined us and is already getting into it! It’s nice to have new children join during the year, when THEY are ready. What a great addition to our community!

Here’s a little sneak peak at the clever blending of work in a Montessori classroom. A child decided independently to write the title of a book she likes. Neat!

These two love the change game. They play it over and over as they familiarize themselves with the hierarchies of thousand, hundred, ten, and unit.

At a school that’s truly doing Montessori as it was meant to be done, a child’s age shouldn’t matter when presenting material. If a child is ready, they are ready.

A child uses metal insets to make a figure and then fills it in with curving lines. Is it art or is it . . . preparation for handwriting!
